the boy dribbled the ball between both hands, "thats beautiful. i always wondered about it. we all do, right?" he asked while shooting yet another perfect shot. "what happens when its gone? but see, ive never really seen anybody lose it. like really lose it... till now." nathan made it clear to the boy that he was talking about his performance during the game.

lucas sighed, catching the ball nathan threw at him after a while, "i dont have to prove anything to you." nathan sighed, with some type of disappointment, "thats pathetic. its too bad, really." lucas' gaze never moved from his estranged brother, "i mean, i was looking forward to taking you down slowly but now, hell whats the point?"

nathan let out a small sigh while walking off the river court, "you already know its over. and id say 'see you at practice,' but we both know youre not gonna be there. why humiliate yourself, right?" nathan poked his cheek with his tongue in attempt to not laugh as he walked away from lucas.

"you missed again!" nathan mocked the older boy with a chuckle as he pointed towards the basketball lucas had attempted to throw at the vehicle nathan drove.

"no practice today?" peyton asked lucas, who was now sat behind the desk of the body shop, apparently skipping practice. the boy, without a word, handed her a clipboard with a pen for her to sign the paperwork, while pulling out a folder, which consisted of some of her drawings, and her car keys.

peyton let her eyes trail over the folder, quickly realizing what it was, "what, are you stalking me?" lucas opened his mouth hesitantly, "i thought someone should see them." peyton closed the paperwork in her hand harshly, handing it back to lucas while grabbing her things, "well, its none of your business."

lucas' eyes never strayed from hers, "you know what? youre right. its none of my business. i wouldnt know anything about it." lucas made clear, handing her the reciept of the auto repairs done on her car. "i know you dont." peyton clarified, grabbing her reciept, folding it while walking away to her car.

"look, just tell me why you didnt submit them. your stuff is good." lucas voiced to the girl, trailing behind her as she never even spared a glance in his direction. "not good enough." she replied to the boy, still not sparing a glance. "look, peyton, why not?"

peyton stopped in her tracks, hesistant on turning to face the boy who had been so adamant on knowing why. after a while, when she finally did turn she didnt bother in getting straight to the point, "i wanna draw something that means something to someone. you know, i- i wanna draw blind faith, or a fading summer, or just a moment of clarity."

peyton sighed before continuing on with the rant she hadnt know she began, "its like when you go, and you see a really great band live for the first time, you know and nobody is saying it but everybody is thinking it. we have something to believe in again." she finished her short rant, lucas' eyes never moving from her features.

peyton looked down for a short moment, before looking back up to lucas, "i wanna draw that feeling, but i cant. and if i cant be great at it, then i dont wanna ruin it. its too important to me." she clarified, looking into lucas' eyes one more time before turning towards her car. "me too." peyton slightly nodded at lucas, getting into her car turning on the ignition.

"hey, what about your sketch book?" lucas quickly asked the girl. "what about 'em? they dont mean anything to anybody, do they?" peyton asked with a light chuckle before driving away.
