"Damn it!" I gritted my teeth, frustration evident in my expression. "What was I supposed to do?!" I rubbed my face and tried to calm myself.

Fuck. I felt like crap.

"He wants me to take over the position."

He was stunned by what I said. I could clearly see the shock in his eyes.

"He even talked about Father like it was nothing." I laughed bitterly. "Every time I hear him mention it, I feel like throwing up."

"Tell me," I said, pausing. "How can I inherit the company that killed my father?" My voice was filled with hatred as I gritted my teeth. "How can I manage a company that drove my mother to madness? She can't even recognize her own son."

"Every time I try to run away, they always find a way to pull me back."

He sighed deeply. "I understand, Zack. I know how painful this is for you, I was there. But please, if you keep resisting, the chairman will probably—" I cut him off.

"I don’t want to talk about it anymore," I said firmly.

His shoulders slumped, and he looked at me with a soft expression. "Whatever decision you make, I will respect it. But remember, everything that happened is in the past now. If you don’t let go of your past, it will prevent you from moving forward."

I didn’t respond and remained silent. An awkward silence settled between us. He cleared his throat.

"Anyway, I’m going to make some excuses for the agency and try to convince them to reschedule the press conference for your new project. I’ll be busy handling your paperwork for a few days, so for now, please, for the love of God, rest and don’t do anything stupid. Okay?" he said, to which I agreed.

"Alright. Do that," I replied.

After he left the room, I collapsed back onto the bed.

Both my body and soul ached. I was too exhausted to think of any way to fix these goddamn problems.

Flashback*

As soon as I landed in Moscow, I was immediately escorted by the agents and bodyguards hired by the chairman. The security was so intense, it felt as if we were going for a war.

On the way to the mansion, I could barely think straight, consumed by thoughts about why he had summoned me on such short notice.

Upon arriving at the main house, I was greeted by the maids and butlers. They welcomed me and bowed their heads as I entered.

I wasted no time and went straight to the chairman's office. My mood darkened when two guards stopped as I about to enter the room.

"Пожалуйста, позвольте нам проверить, вооружены ли вы." one of the men said. Please let us check if you're equipped.

Afraid that I might cause trouble?

Keeping my eyes fixed ahead, I raised both of my hands.

Not wanting to waste any time, I let them frisk me. Once they confirmed I wasn’t carrying any weapons, they opened the large door leading to the chairman's office.

I remained emotionless but kept a sharp gaze as I faced him, comfortably seated in his chair.

"О, Михаил, мой любимый внук, здесь!" he said with a laugh that made me want to punch him in the face. Oh, Mikhail, my favorite grandchild is here!
