I was sitting on my bathroom counter and washing my face when there was a loud knock at my front door. I sighed and got off the counter. As I walked down the stairs there was another knock and it was louder this time.

"Goddamn," I open my door and see Claudia standing there. "Dude, why are you knocking so loud?"

"You were taking forever to answer," she says.

"I was up in my room. What are you doing here?"

"I wanted to come over and talk for a bit. Are you gonna let me in or what?"

"I don't know if I really want to," I tell her. She rolls her eyes and I let her in. "What is it you want to talk to me about? Nothing could possibly be this important that you show up at my house at ten o'clock at night,"

"I never said it was important or that I had to talk to you about something specific. I just said that I wanted to talk," she said.

"Don't be a smart ass," I tell her and make my way back up to my room. She follows me. I go back to my bathroom and finish up doing my night routine and she sits on my bed.

"So, when did Y/n leave?" She asks.

"I fucking knew you were here to talk about her. God, it's like you're obsessed with her," I tell her.

"I am not obsessed with her. I just like knowing things. Besides, she's not my type,"

"Yeah, apparently my brother is," I laugh.

"Whatever. Just answer my question,"

"She left a few hours ago. She ran out of clothes and figured she should go back home anyway," I told her.

"Wait what do you mean? Has she been staying here?"

"Yeah, she's been here for like the past five days,"

"Five days? I honestly just thought that she had come over multiple days in a row. She was just staying here? Doesn't she have work?"

"Yes, she would go to work and come back here. She wanted a break from being around her friend Cassie so she was here,"

"Cassie is the friend we met at her house that one time, right?" She asks.

"Yes," I say, walking back into my bedroom.

"How do you feel about that arrangement of Cassie living with Y/n?" I give her a weird look.

"I don't care. Why would it matter to me?"

"I don't know," she mumbles. "Forget I ever said anything about her. It's not my business. Let's talk about something else,"

"Are you okay? Is there something you want to talk about?" I ask her. She shakes her head.

"No, I don't. Let's just talk about something else, okay?"

-

I'm driving to Y/n's work to surprise her. I got the idea to come here after my mom asked if I wanted to meet her and my dad for lunch. I told them we should come here. My mom was a little skeptical because she's never been here and didn't know if there were vegan options but Y/n and I had this conversation a while ago and she had said they have plenty of vegan options here. I get there and park right next to Y/n's car.

"Hey, is there any way that I can request a specific person's area to sit in?" I ask the host.

"Yeah, but that's only if there is available searing in that section," she says.

"Great, can you look to see if Y/n has any available tables?" I ask her. She nods and walks away. About a minute later, she comes back.

"You're lucky. She's got one table right now. Follow me," she says, and I do. "Will it be just you today?"

"No, there's two more coming," I tell her, looking around to see if I can find Y/n. I see her standing outside the kitchen talking to Cassie. I smile a little. I sit at the table and the host hands me some menus.

"Your waitress should be with you shortly," she says, walking away. I pull out my phone and see a text from my mom saying that they're almost here.

"Billie?" I look up to see Y/n walking over to me. I smile. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm here to have lunch with my parents and I wanted to see you, too." She gives me a small hug and then pulls out paper and a pen.

"Well, while you're waiting for your parents, should I get you something to drink?" She asks, in a joking manner. I nod.

"Just three waters please,"

"I'll be back with those waters," she says. About five minutes later she returns with three glasses of water. "Here is your waters. Was there anything else I could get you?"

"Took you a while to get those waters," I tease her. She rolls her eyes.

"Billie, be nice to this young lady. She's working hard," I hear my dad say. Y/n turns around and freezes as she sees my parents. I laugh.

"She's one of my friends. Y/n, these are my parents," she shyly waves at them and they give her a smile. They both sit down and Y/n looks at me.

"I'll give you guys a few minutes to look at the menu," she says and then walks away. I laugh.

"You know who that is?" My mom asks. I nod.

"We met a couple of months ago. Like right before Christmas. We've been becoming really close friends," I tell her. She gives me a small smile.

"Is that all she is? A friend?" She asks.

"Yes, Mom," I say but I'm starting to think that's not true.

Lately, I've been thinking that I am starting to develop a little crush on Y/n. I just can't stop thinking about her. And when I'm around her my heart starts racing and I find it hard to speak sometimes. I've tried so hard to hide it and to deny it but I don't think I can do that. She's so pretty. Although, I've thought that ever since I saw her in that bar that one night. And then the conversation we had about Mia. As far as I know, she hasn't been doing her old antics so that's an accomplishment for me. I was able to help somebody.

About five minutes later, Y/n walks back over.

"So, have we figured out what we want?" She asks. She's so cute when she uses her customer service voice. She looks so concentrated and bored. I would be too if I worked here.

We all ordered and she walked. She would come back over ever so often to talk to us and to refill our drinks. I always enjoyed it when she came over. However, she got in trouble a couple of times with Cassie for being over here too long.

We ate our food and paid and then started leaving. As I'm walking to my car I hear Y/n say my name. I turn around to see her walking over to me.

"Aren't you supposed to be working?" I ask her.

"Yeah, I was just wondering if you were free tonight. Cassie is having some friends over tonight and I don't want to be by myself unless I want to invite my brother, which I don't want to do," I laugh. "I was wondering if you wanted to come over at like eight?" I nod.

"Yeah, I can do that for sure," she smiles.

"Good. I'm gonna go before I get in trouble. I'll see you later," she says and runs back inside. I smile. I can't be falling for her.
