KENNEDY interlocked her hand with angela's. the couple was seated in a dimly lit restaurant, packed with chatting pairs smiling over candlelight.

they ordered drinks, prepared to uber home, and waited for their meals to arrive.

"you look amazing, ang." kennedy complimented her girlfriend, admiring the way the golden flickering light highlighted her features.

angela grinned. "so do you." she said, fiddling with kennedy's silver chain bracelet as she held her hand loosely.

"if someone would have told me when i first came back that i would be on a date with you on valentine's day i would've called them crazy." kennedy smiled, shaking her head in disbelief. "but now it just feels right."

angela laughed lightly. "i know." she nodded. "i'm glad we gave eachother a second chance."

"me too." kennedy said softly, looking into angela's dark eyes.

a few minutes passed and their entrees arrived. they both dug in, passing sweet glances across the table.

"so, i have a question for you." kennedy said, starting up the conversation again.

"oh boy." angela joked.

kennedy rolled her eyes as angela smirked, taking a sip from her glass.

"what are your thoughts on how much we're gonna share about our relationship with the public?" kennedy asked.

angela pursed her lips. "well, i think it would be good to remain private for a while."

"i agree." kennedy nodded. "but i don't know if i can keep you a secret for too long. instagram already knows i have a girlfriend."

"i don't think i can keep you a secret for long, either. especially if we're as telling as courtney says we are." angela said. the couple laughed at her last sentence.

"why don't we keep our relationship a secret from the internet for at least a year." kennedy suggested. "we can revisit this conversation on our one year anniversary and we can make sappy posts if we decided we're ready."

angela nodded. "that sounds good to me."

"is it cool if i continue to soft launch my girlfriend on instagram?" kennedy asked.

angela chuckled. "go for it. i like watching everyone's gears turn as they try to figure out who i am."

kennedy laughed. "me too."

kennedy and angela swayed their arms together, smiling as they walked forward. the world around them was dark, lit up by an alive city and streetlights.

"thank you for treating me to dinner." angela said.

kennedy beamed. "it was my pleasure. thank you for being my valentine."

"anytime." angela said. the pair chuckled, continuing to make it down the midly busy sidewalks.

they made their way to a small shop, full of everything you could ever imagine.

"hello ladies." the store's owner greeted. she was a small older woman, and seemed like someone amanda could play very well in a bit. "happy valentine's day! let me know if you need any help finding anything."

"thank you!" they both said, grinning at the gray haired woman. they browsed the store, staying hand in hand as they came up to a small selection of jewelry.

kennedy reached out and grabbed two matching necklaces. a small dainty chain with a small heart that hung low.

"ang, we have to get these." she said, holding up the matching set. "they were made for us."

angela smiled at kennedy's adoring gaze at the necklaces. "okay, hold on to them."

kennedy grinned, allowing the necklaces to dangle down as she held them. they continued to look around the store but nothing else immediately caught their eye.

"all set?" the woman asked them once they made their way to the counter.

"yes, thank you." angela said, taking her wallet out of her small bag.

"these are lovely." the woman said, admiring the necklaces as she rang them up.

"we think so too." kennedy said, smiling as angela paid for the necklaces.

"you are all set." the woman said, placing the necklaces in a box. "have a wonderful rest of your night."

"thank you, you too." angela said as the pair left the store.

"wanna put them on now?" angela asked.

"i would love to." kennedy said. angela took one of the necklaces and put it around kennedy's neck, clasping it into place.

kennedy grabbed the other necklace, doing the same thing for angela, getting close so she could easily see the clasp. the then placed a kiss onto angela's jawline, leaving a faint maroon lipstick stain which was hidden by her hair falling back into place.

"happy valentine's day, ang." kennedy said softly. "i love you."

angela interlocked their hands again and they continued walking. "happy valentine's day, ken. i love you, too."
