Chapter 26

Jacob's POV

Rob's relentless persuasion was starting to get on my nerves. "What the hell do you expect to find at that dumb party?" I exclaimed, irritation lacing my tone.

Robin, ever the smooth talker, chimed in with a smirk. "There's a whole bunch of rich hotties, Jake. Come on, cut me some slack. I've been in a two-day drought, man. Have some mercy," he pleaded, his eyes widening in mock desperation.

As if that wasn't enough, he added another layer to his convincing arsenal. "And, you know, Daisy would be thrilled if we showed up," he said, his voice adopting an unexpectedly calm and persuasive quality.

I felt a twinge of excitement at the thought of seeing her, but I quickly pushed it aside, unwilling to admit my interest in front of Robin.

Sure enough, Rob had a point. The eccentric Daisy, in all her unpredictable glory, had recently issued a not-so-subtle threat, practically strong-arming us into attending the party.

Reluctantly, I found myself succumbing to the relentless duo of Robin's persuasive tactics and Daisy's ominous influence. "Fine, let's go," I conceded, fully aware that I was entering a world of opulence and extravagance that held little appeal for me.

As we arrived at the party, the scene that greeted us was nothing short of extravagant. The venue was brimming with people, the air thick with an intoxicating mix of luxury, elegance, and, undoubtedly, the unmistakable scent of money.

Everywhere I looked, there were glittering chandeliers, lavish decorations, and impeccably dressed guests sipping on cocktails that probably cost more than my month's rent. It was a party fit for the elite, a realm where excess and indulgence seemed to know no bounds.

As Robin and I navigated through the lively crowd, searching for Daisy, the thumping bass of the music led us to a sight that grabbed my attention like a magnet. There she was, dancing solo with an unabashed sensuality at a table by the pool, lost in her world, humming along to the beats.

Her movements were hypnotic, and an involuntary twinge of jealousy crept over me as I couldn't tear my eyes away. It seemed like everyone in the vicinity was spellbound by the spectacle. The way she moved, the sultry dance she performed—it was as if she didn't have a care in the world.

My gaze unintentionally fixated on the men surrounding her, their hungry eyes devouring every nuance of her dance. I couldn't help but wonder why I hadn't arrived earlier, as if I had missed out on a secret rendezvous with desire.

When Daisy finally spotted us, she practically pounced on Robin with joy before turning her attention to me.

A warm hug enveloped me, and at that moment, the scent of vanilla slapped me in the face, reminding me of her presence. Ah, that scent of hers, always managing to catch me off guard, leaving me momentarily dazed.
