Weiss Pov

Atlas

5:00 PM

Reporter: We still have hours ahead of us, but as votes come in, it looks more and more certain that Robyn Hill will fill the contested Council seat.

Ruby: Does he know that he accidently rhymed?

Weiss: I'm sure he didn't. He's on Fathers payroll... There's no way my Father thought layoffs would do anything other than hurt him. Why announce it a day before the election?

Yang: Seems like a powerplay that backfired to me. It won't matter in a few hours though.

Yang stood up from her bed and stretched. Ruby watched as Yang walked over to Blake, who was getting ready to go out. I was starting to wonder if they were acting oblivious or actually were. There's no way neither of them aren't picking up on the attraction to one another... Then again, I didn't have that problem...

Ruby: Where are you guys going?

Blake: Team FNKI invited us out dancing. Yang and I thought it would be a good way to get our minds off things.

Ruby: ...I thought you said team FNKI was annoying...?

Yang: That's the beauty of dance clubs. *Whisper* I can't hear you~

Blake started to giggle as the door opened. Ren and Nora were on the other side. I was more than a little surprised to hear that Ruby actually wanted to go to Robyns election party. The whole reason we had time off was to keep from concerning ourselves about it. It was bad enough that Y/n stayed out to go, now Ruby... Does she even understand politics? Actually... Does Nora?

Nora: Ruby! Come on!

Weiss: I still can't believe your going to that thing.

Nora: Just because Ironwood dislikes Robyn doesn't mean we ALL have to. From where I'm standing, both of them seem to be trying their best to help Atlas... As for who's doing the better job...

Weiss: But a victory party?

Ruby: Invites still open if you want to go. Penny will be working security and you said Y/n will be there.

I looked at Ruby with a uninterested gaze. Yeah, Y/n will be there, but I doubt it's for the party. He said Robyn helped him the first time he was in Atlas. I knew him well enough to know that he felt like he needed to be there. If not for support, than for no other reason than because he owes her. It's business in his eyes.

Granted, I think he genuinely likes Robyn if she was able to get past the hard anti-Huntsman sentiments he held when he was younger. One of the better things to come out of the last few years was his easing on those opinions. Still though, I had absolutely no desire to be reminded of the election.... Especially with the fear that somehow Father will win. The polls were starting to get close.

She took that as a no and left with Nora and Ren. I looked back at Yang and Blake and saw the two playing around. Trying to get some kind of dance right. That pretty much killed any desire I had to join them. Of course, I wouldn't have anyone to dance with, even if they were playing music I could dance to. Just when I was about to give up and stay here with my cake, Jaune and Oscar poked their heads into the doorway.

Jaune: Hey! Oscar and I are going to the movies if any of you want to-

Weiss: Yup...

That was better than sitting here... Alone... Damnit Y/n, why'd you have to stay in Mantle. I'm sure there's something that we could find here that would make up for a few hours ago. As valiant of a effort as it was, the timing was horrible... I get where he was coming from, but that wasn't one of his best ideas...
