Kyle's POV
I knock on the Tucker's door at exactly 6:00 PM. I've never actually personally met the Tucker's so I didn't want to be late. When you live in a tiny town where everyone knows everyone leaving bad first impressions fucking sucks.
The door opens but not to who I expected. It's Craig's younger sister, Tricia. "Hey," She says with a polite smile. "Hi, I'm here for a school project with Craig," I explain with a returned polite smile.
"Ok, cool," she turns "Craig!" Craig walks over to the door way as Tricia makes her exit promptly."Hey Kyle," He says motioning me to come in. I enter and stop my feet on the doormat. "Should I take my shoes off?" I ask, noting the shoes neatly lined up along the wall. He shakes his head and just continues to walk so I follow.
Craig's always seemed like a cool person. I admire how to straight forward he is. The way he feels confident just saying things as they are. He lead me up the stairs and to his room which is pretty clean. He has those little plastic light up stars all over the ceiling and NASA posters on the wall.
"You're into space?" I ask. Maybe that's a stupid question I mean his ceiling is covered in stars. "Yeah, it's super awesome," he says, an ever so slight smile pulling at his lips. "I think I want to work for NASA someday."
"Really? Cool!" I smile. I sit on the chair at his desk and he sits across from me on the edge of his bed. "I really don't want to start this project," I admit. He nods in agreement, "it's a dumbass assignment."
"Totally," I agree. Craig reaches for his backpack. "Glad you agree cause I told the teacher that and she gave me lunch detention," He informs me. I chuckle, sounds about right. Of course Craig would get in trouble for mouthing off.
"Well since we need research materials and design materials and a rought draft I figured today we just decide on a topic and plan the next time we can work on it," I suggest.
Craig nods. "Ok." We pick our topic after a short discussion and decide we can meet two days from now at my place. I'm gathering my stuff and getting ready to leave when I peek out the window and I'm shocked by the amount of snowfall. "Holy shit," I mumble.
We check the doors and we are totally snowed in. "This sucks ass," Tricia whines. She jumps onto the couch and reaches for the remote when suddenly the power flicks off. "Damn it." Tricia hops up and storms off to her room. "Wanna hang out in my room?" Craig suggests. "Sure," I reply.
We head back upstairs and sit across from each other on the carpeted floor, sitting with our legs criss-cross. So close that our knees are touching . "How long do you think we'll be stuck?" I ask him. He shrugs, "Not too long."
Craig mostly speaks monotonously. That's just how he is. It fits into his blunt character. He pretty much has always been like this. Well, as long as I can remember anyways.
"I told you what I want to do when I'm older. What about you?" He asks. I think for a moment. I actually have no idea and with him being so confident about his future job I feel a little embarrassed. "I don't really know... I guess I want to help people," I mumble. "Cool," he replies.
He doesn't say anything other than that and for a moment the room is deadly silent. Honestly it's uncomfortable silence. Like the type of silence that makes you want to squirm around in you seat. Issue is I don't know what to say. "Uhm... you planning on going to the football game this Friday? You're friends with Clyde right? I figured I'd go to support Stan," I sputter to fill the silence. "Yeah, I might go. I don't know though, we always loose," he rolls his eyes.
He's right. We loose every damn time. We have a total of three good kids on our team, Stan, Clyde and some upperclassman.
"True," I nod, "It's still fun to go though. " He shrugs and then suddenly locks eye contact with me for a moment. I feel as though a icy rain drop has just ran down my spine. "You know, I really like how you're optimistic but not blind to reality," he admits. I feel blood rush to my face and my cheeks glow red on my pale skin. "I like how you do that. You're blunt honesty, its refreshing," I tell him, "also, thanks."
"Crazy how we've known each other for years but never talked that much," he comments. "It makes me glad we're project partners, I probably wouldn't have talked to you otherwise," I tell him. He gives me a confused look, "Why?" he asks. "I don't know you give like scary vibes. Why didn't you ever talk to me?" I answer and then return the question. He shrugs, "no particular reason."
In the dimly lit room he actually looks quite good. Something about the faint gray lighting highlights his features perfectly and once again I feel a bloodrush to my face. I glance from his deep brown eyes to his lips and then back again. My lips pull into a slight smile and in sync we both lean in. Our lips touch and I gently grab the side of his face with one hand and the other naturally land on his knee. I feel his tongue lick my bottom lip and instantaneously I part my lips.
Suddenly Tricia bursts into the door and then gasps dramatically as we pull away from each other, a string of spit hitting both of our chins. "You found a new boyfriend already? You broke up with Tweek like a week ago," she smirks. "Trica," he hisses, blushing a bit. He picks up and throws a near by notebook at her. Then he holds up his middle finger to her too, for good measure. "Geez! Sorry. I'll leave you two to it, just don't be too loud its traumatizing to hear," She giggles as she runs away shutting the door behind her.
I don't think my face has ever felt more like the surface of the sun then it does now. "Sorry, she's such a shit head," he apologizes, his cheeks only slightly red. "I- it's fine, I get it. I have a little brother," I chuckle. He stands up and lets our a long sigh. "You wanna watch a movie or something? He suggests. "Sounds cool," I reply.
We walk back down stairs and he grabs the remote and a blanket. We snuggles up under the blanket and click on to Netflix. I lean my my head on to his shoulder and smile as I watch him look through the movie options. After a minute or so he clicks some random movie and sets the remote down. I goosebump form on my arms as I feel one of his arms snake around my lower back.
As the movie goes on I get cozier and more tired. I'm just starting to doze off when Criag lean forward and plants a gentle kiss on my forehead. That's the last thing I remember.
