PLEASE NOTICE— CHAPTER FIVE.

Violet knew what it was like to wake up next to Chad. She knew how his arms felt around her waist, how his breath caught in her neck. Some of her favorite moments came with peacefulness of feeling safe within his arms.

Even now, after Violet had been attacked in the same house and both of her sisters had been attacked. Violet felt safe in his embrace.

Something had shifted between them. She couldn't pinpoint when, but in the last few days they had separated themselves from their facade and started returning to their true selves.

They weren't together— Chad was still with Liv, even if things were broken between them and had been doomed from the start.

Nothing had happened between him and Violet— they hadn't kissed, no one had made a move. But they weren't just friends, either.

Violet and Chad could never be just friends.

What was happening between them now was everything and nothing. Chad had zero intention of leaving Violet alone after she was attacked and Violet had no intention of asking Chad to leave.

So, of course, somewhere in the night, their pillow wall had disappeared and they were cuddling.

Because that's exactly what you do with all of your friends. Chad and Wes did it all the time.

"Are you going to keep thinking or are you going to go back to sleep?" Chad grumbles, curling deeper into Violet's neck.

He hadn't thought about the action, just leaning into instinct. And his instinct was to be as close to Violet as possible.

"Thinking." Violet drowns on, laughing slightly at the boys antics.

"Well, can you think quieter? I want to go back to sleep." Chad joked, tightening his grip on Violet like she were his pillow.

Violet shifts to face the boy, "You can go back to sleep but I want to find out who the killer is." She starts to wiggle out of his grasp.

"Great, you do that." Chad responds, falling back into his pillow to relax before the realization took over and he sits up. "Wait, what?"

"I mean think about it. All of us have been with someone pretty much 24/7. We just need to fill in the gaps of when we were alone and go from there." Violet crosses over to her closet, walking in to wheel out the murder board she set up.

"Yeah, that doesn't sound hard at all." Chad retorts, confusion and shock overtaking his face that he was dealing with his so early in the morning.

"It's not. I mean, I'm already halfway there." Violet brings the murder board into view, stopping it right in front of the bed so that they both had a full view of the board.

"Don't take this the wrong way but are you in a full on spiral right now?" Chad exasperates at the board, standing to walk closer to check out each of the threads and symbols connecting everyone in a web.

"What? No. This is my murder board." Violet says it like it's the most simply thing on the planet and everyone has one.

Chad starred in amazement at the girl beside him who had somehow become the old Violet overnight. "Somehow you seem like the exact type of person to have a murder and yet I'm surprised."
