Chapter 1: The Dream
Hope was an ordinary girl from Palapye, Botswana, living a typical teenage life. She went to school, hung out with friends, and loved K-pop, hip-hop, pop, EDM, and R&B. Her life was as predictable as it could be until one fateful night. She had a vivid dream, more like a vision, that shook her to the core. In the dream, she saw snippets of her school life, strange events that felt surreal yet oddly familiar. When she woke up, she dismissed it as a strange dream. Little did she know, it was just the beginning.
As the week progressed, Hope began experiencing déjà vu. Bit by bit, the events from her dream started coming true. At first, she brushed it off, thinking it was just her imagination. But by the end of the week, she realized she had a unique power. She could foresee events in her dreams, and they would unfold exactly as she had seen them.
One day during her maths lesson, Hope dozed off. In her dream, she found herself in a vast, serene landscape. A person, cloaked in shadows, approached her. Though she couldn't see their face, their voice was the most warm and spiritual she had ever heard.
"Hope," the voice called gently. "You have a gift. You must assemble a team of five. Each member will possess unique powers. One who flows like water but is cold as ice, one who is fiery like fire but bright as light, one who is hard as earth but as beautiful and lifeful as green, one who is powerful and strong like a lion but smart and sneaky like a fox, and one who is intelligent like Einstein but works fast like a computer. Assemble these people with those you trust, and the color of each power will glow when you are near your teammates."
Hope was awakened abruptly by her maths teacher, who saw her slacking off and daydreaming. She was punished with squats, but her mind was racing with the message from her dream.
At lunch, still confused about her dream, Hope accidentally bumped into her friend Warona. Warona's eyes briefly shone a bright blue. Hope pulled her aside and told her everything. Warona was skeptical but intrigued.
"Girl, I love you and all, but that sounds crazy. Okay, bye," Warona said, trying to leave.
"Wait!" Hope exclaimed, her eyes wide as Warona started floating in the air. Warona was equally shocked.
"Kitso, what the hell?" Warona asked.
"You can control and create water... and ice," Hope said, realizing her friend's powers. They decided to talk more the next day.
As Hope was heading to her next class, she passed a boy whose eyes glowed red. His name was Duncan. She tried to talk to him, but he rushed off. Later that day, Duncan went home feeling hot and dizzy. In the shower, he had massive headaches and saw visions of Hope repeatedly until he fainted. In his dream, he met Hope and Warona.
"Wait, what? This is next-level stalking," Duncan said, confused.
Hope explained everything, and Duncan realized he had powers over fire and light. He tried using them, accidentally burning his clothes off. Hope used her mind magic to create new clothes for him.
The next day at school, Hope bumped into Lia and Marci, twins whose eyes shone bright green and dark brown. Lia could manipulate and grow plants, while Marci could control the earth. Hope explained everything, and though they were scared at first, they agreed to join her.
Later, Hope found her friend Kefilwe, whose eyes shone bright black and white. Kefilwe had the power to speak to, control, and turn into animals. After a demonstration, Kefilwe believed Hope and joined the team.
During break time, the team gathered outside. When they were all together, their eyes glowed, revealing their powers. They felt powerful, strong, and free. Hope told them there was one last member they needed to find.
Hope was rushing to her physics class when she passed a senior student whose eyes glowed brightly. She wanted to talk to him but had to go to class. After class, the boy, curious about their shared glow, tapped her on the shoulder. His name was Tshepiso, and he had powers of immense intelligence, speed, and regeneration. Hope explained everything, and he agreed to meet the team at lunch.
At lunch, the team gathered one by one. When they were all together, their powers activated, and each developed a tattoo on their shoulders, symbolizing their powers. They marveled at their newfound abilities and felt a deep connection with one another.
Hope recounted everything from the start and emphasized the importance of keeping their powers a secret. They all agreed, realizing the magnitude of their mission.As the days went by, the team trained and honed their powers. They grew closer, not just as teammates but as friends. Each member brought something unique to the group, and together, they felt unstoppable.
Hope still didn't know why she was chosen or what their ultimate purpose was, but she knew they were destined for something great. With her team by her side, she felt ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
And so, Hope and her friends embarked on a journey of discovery, friendship, and adventure, knowing that together, they could conquer anything.
