With the letter in her hand, Daenys ran in the direction of her dragons to read the letter. She immediately recognised the writing as her grandmother Rhaenys'.

Daenys' tears ran silently down her cheek and by the end of the letter she could no longer hold back and began to cry bitterly. Meraxes and Silverwing, sensing their rider's sadness and pain, roared out in agony.

'Eny? Daenys? What happened?' Cregan approached Daenys, who was still crying and was more than worried about his best friend. 'I got a letter from my grandmother. My aunt Laena and my dad Laenor are dead. Mum is injured. Cregan, it hurts so much!' Seeing her like this broke the older boy's heart. 'I'm so sorry, Daenys. I'm always here for you.' With these words, Cregan took Daenys in his arms and tried to comfort her. The Silver Duo lay down next to the children to protect them from everything else.

Some time passed, during which none of the four moved a muscle. In the early evening hours, the two children returned to the castle after all.

Daenys was just entering her room, where she was greeted joyfully by Shadow, when Nora Stark threw her arms around her neck.

'Oh, my little girl. I heard about it. I'm so sorry. I can't say much to make you feel better, because this doesn't happen that quickly, but you can be sure of one thing, we're here for you. Come here!'

With that, Nora hugged Daenys tightly and whispered words of encouragement to her. The following night, Daenys hardly slept as she saw the faces of her aunt and father in front of her every time, she tried to fall asleep.

The next morning, Daenys walked to the Godswood with Shadow and sat down under the Heart Tree. As she sat there, she prayed to the Old Gods of Valyria and the Old Gods for her father and aunt. The tears still visible.

'Eny? May I sit with you?' 'Yes, of course Cregan.' Cregan sat down next to Daenys under the Heart Tree and the two of them just sat next to each other without saying a word.

'What are you actually doing here?' 'I was praying to the Old Gods of Valyria and the Old Gods. Do you think this will help my father and my aunt where they are now?' 'Of course. I still do it for my mum and brother too.' 'Thank you, Cregan, that means a lot to me. It just still hurts so much. Nora said it won't get better any time soon. Is that true?' 'Nora's right, it will still hurt for a while, but it will get easier with time. As she always says, time heals all wounds. But I'm always here for you if you need a shoulder to comfort you.'

They both stayed under the Heart Tree for a while and talked with one another until it was time for their lessons.
