Suffocation, darkness, nothingness.
Beaten down to the basic components of my existence, not even breathing as I stood, yet I somehow clung on... my... well, not body... something... a piece of me still persisted. Despite seeing my own body take its last breath, its back against a tower wall, I was still... alive?
I tried looking around, and I found myself in what looked like a glass cylinder, with a metal floor and ceiling. The glass reflected a yellow heart shaped figure... is this what I've been reduced to?
Around me, there were my friends... Ceroba, Starlo, and of course, Martlet. They've all knelt down in front of what I assume to be King Asgore, and began talking... if I focused hard enough, I could hear them...
- You let a human get into New Home? You must have a good reason for this, Martlet. - The King did his best to sound stern, but everyone in the room knew he was a big ball of incompetent and harmless fluff.
- I... wanted them to get home. They were a good kid, not like... - Martlet stopped for a moment before continuing - The last one. Clover never hurt a single monster!
- ...I see. And considering what good state the SOUL is in, that must mean the fight was easily won?
Ceroba looked to the floor in shame.
- N-no, it was very difficult, in fact... - Ceroba explained - It... they evaded all of my attacks with ease, but never fired a shot even when I put them near death, and even... - She bit herself in the tounge before continuing
- I understand... so that must mean they have given themselves up willingly? - Asgore asked curiously
- That's right. We're... - Starlo let out a tear - So darn proud of 'em.
Asgore stepped over to a window in silence, humming along his familiar tune while being engrossed in throughs.
- Incredible... despite humanity's cruelty, there is still some good in them... perhaps Tori was right...
I instantly recognized the nickname Tori as the goat lady which welcomed me in the underground... I wonder what is going on over there now. I hope the news don't reach her...
- Set the-- hm? - Asgore looked directly at my enclosure with a puzzled expression.
Every one of my friends turned to me and shared the confusion amongst themselves
- Should their SOUL be shining so much? - Ceroba asked the room, without getting any answers
Slowly, it felt as if the very essence of my being burned brighter, and brighter. Stronger, yet stronger. I did not want to die, so I will, simply put, not.
I can't let them forget me... I can't let them lose all hope again...
I... Felt something? I looked up, and saw Martlet caressing the top of my pod with a tender touch. She cooed out in a warm yet worried tone.
- We'll never forget you, Clover. Don't worry.
W-what? Can they...?
- Indeed, Justful Soul... - Asgore looked down, feeling remorse and guilt washed over him.
Truthfully, this must have been the first time when the king felt any sort of pity for a human. He... He couldn't just let an actual living being live in a cage, could he?
- Do you... Want to take care of your friend? - Asgore asked the group with a smile, to which they all nodded.
Ceroba picked me up, and comforted me
- I'll take good care of you, Clover - She snuggled her cheek into the glass, to which I responded by warming that side of it to a nice, comfy warmth. I'm getting the hang of this!
