Life is treating me well. Even though the man I love has the blood of many on his hands, I still feel safe with him. And this doesn't change the fact that I am falling for him more every second.
It's been a month since he gave me the ring. It was too big for my finger, so he had it resized. It looks stunning, though it doesn't quite suit my small hand and innocent face. Still, I love the fact that it's on my finger.
Vihaan left the city for some work, and he told me he will inform his parents about me once he returns. I am expecting him tomorrow, and the thought of being with him forever sends chills down my spine-or perhaps nothing at all.
I am so bored sitting at home all day; I can't even think of going out without him. Yeah, I finally understand that it's not safe for me at all.
Getting up from my seat, I told Erica to bring me coffee in the library. Vihaan loves books. You wouldn't guess it by looking at him, but living with him for all these days, I've realized that he has a slight knowledge about everything. Arguing with him becomes pointless on any topic.
Erica must have forgotten about the coffee. Taking a book in my hand, I pulled out my phone while making my way to the kitchen.
I called him, but he didn't pick up. I called again, and this time he did. "I miss you," I said as soon as he picked up the phone. I could hear his chuckles and imagine his lips curling into a smile through the phone. "I miss you more, sweetheart," he replied.
Just as I was about to ask when he would be coming home, a gunshot came from a distance, and my phone fell to the floor. I dropped to the ground as quickly as I could, and all I saw were people-many people-storming into the house wearing black suits and firing their guns mindlessly.
I picked up my phone to call Vihaan but saw that the screen was already shattered. "Fuck," I muttered to myself, trying to reach the nearest room to lock myself in. But as I reached the door, I felt a hand, a large hand, yanking me back by my hair.
Before I could figure out what was happening, he dragged me to the hall, still gripping my hair, and threw me on the floor against the couch. The pain was excruciating.
I regained consciousness and looked around. I was surrounded by at least thirty men with guns, all of them looking like they could eat a human alive. The man who had dragged me here slapped me as soon as I tried to speak. His hand was so large, it could cover my whole face, and the slap was brutal.
"Enough," a voice commanded from behind me, and all the men stepped back.
I heard footsteps until I saw another man, dressed in a blue suit, sitting on the couch in front of me. He seemed slightly unhinged as he made himself comfortable and took off his glasses.
"Who are you?" I asked, still feeling the pain from the slap in my jaw.
"Lucas," he said. "You don't know me, of course, but I know you very well, Alisha. Sorry for killing all these people, but Vihaan left me with no option. My cousin and business partner, Rishi Chandra, was a fool, no doubt about it. But he was still family. Vihaan took him out so mercilessly that even his own men vomited when he killed my cousin. How do you feel safe with him? Don't you think he's no human, but a devil?"
"He didn't tell me much about that, but I'm sure your cousin deserved it," I replied, just as the large man moved toward me again.
"No, Jerry," Lucas said darkly, and the man stopped.
Jerry? This guy looks about 6'5" with muscles like a monster. No way his name is Jerry, I thought to myself.
"We have some differences in our views. Let's settle this. Bring him here." He spoke
My eyes widened, and my jaw dropped in shock and fear as I saw his men dragging Shreyas, Vihaan's brother, toward me. His face was covered in blood and bruises.
Lucas stood up, adjusted his suit, and looked down at Shreyas, who was in no condition to speak.
"Where's the maid, Jerry? She has an important role to play. Bring her here too," Lucas said, smiling like a psychopath. He laughed and made Erica sit on the couch.
"You're going to tell him everything in detail, right?" he asked Erica.
"Y-yes," she mumbled, looking down at her legs, scared just like me.
"He will kill you," I shouted at the top of my lungs as I saw Lucas taking out his gun.
"Not before I kill him," Lucas said, and without a second's hesitation, I heard two gunshots straight into Shreyas' eyes.
"Beautiful," he said, laughing with his men.
My throat went dry, and my tears refused to fall. I couldn't feel my hands anymore.
Lucas leaned down and snapped his fingers in front of my widened eyes to bring me back.
"Did you like it?" he asked.
I cried miserably, unable to answer. What kind of monsters are these people?
He stood straight and told his men, "Take her, and if I hear that any of you touched or misbehaved with her, I will make you watch yourself being eaten by wild animals."
