Returning to the dorms after the intense training session against Mirio, I couldn't help but notice the air of exhaustion mixed with excitement among my classmates. The training field had been a brutal battleground, with everyone pushing their limits. Now, back in the comfort of our dorms, the mood was lighter but charged with anticipation for what was next.
We filed into the common area, and Aizawa-sensei stood before us, his usual serious expression in place. "Class 1-A, you've performed well so far. As promised, you are now eligible for hero internships. This is your chance to learn from professional heroes in the field. Choose wisely."
The room buzzed with anticipation as everyone started discussing their potential choices. Kirishima and Sero were animatedly discussing their options.
"I'm thinking of going with Fat Gum again," Kirishima said, his enthusiasm evident. "He really helped me last time."
"That's cool," Sero replied. "I might try to get in with Manual again."
Momo and Jiro were engaged in a quieter conversation. Momo's eyes sparkled with excitement. "I really enjoyed working with Uwabami. Her connections and media presence were enlightening."
Jiro nodded thoughtfully. "I might look for someone more music-related this time, maybe even present Mic."
I observed from my usual spot by the window, detached from the animated discussions. My thoughts were already made up. Sir Nighteye had been on my mind since the internships were first mentioned. His analytical approach and connection to All Might made him the perfect choice for me, even if it meant facing the lingering shadow of my father.
Aizawa-sensei's voice cut through the chatter. "For those who haven't decided yet, remember to consider what you want to achieve with this internship. It's not just about fame or the hero's reputation. It's about what you can learn and how you can grow."
I felt a presence beside me and turned to see Tokoyami. "Have you decided, Midoriya?"
"Yeah," I replied, looking out the window. "Sir Nighteye."
Tokoyami nodded thoughtfully. "A wise choice. His foresight quirk is legendary."
The night progressed with more discussions and decisions being made. Everyone seemed to have a clear path or at least a strong idea of where they wanted to go. The mood was a mix of excitement and determination, each of us eager to prove ourselves and learn from the best.
Eventually, the conversations died down as people started heading to their rooms. I lingered a bit longer, lost in thought. The dorms were quiet now, a stark contrast to the chaos of earlier. I preferred it this way.
As I made my way to my room, I passed by Izumi's door, which was slightly ajar. Our relationship remained strained, distant. We hadn't spoken since the fight, and I preferred it that way. There were too many unresolved issues, too much history. For now, silence was better.
Entering my room, I sat on the edge of my bed, letting the day's events replay in my mind. The fight with Mirio, the decision about the internship, the unspoken tensions. It was all a lot to process, but it was just another step in this unpredictable journey.
I lay back, staring at the ceiling, thinking about the days ahead. Sir Nighteye was known for his rigorous training and high expectations. It would be a challenge, but one I was ready to face.
Tomorrow would bring a new chapter in our hero training, and I intended to face it head-on. No distractions, no doubts. Just the task at hand.
The following morning, I woke up early, my mind set on one goal: securing an internship with Sir Nighteye. After getting ready, I made my way to the common area where a few classmates were already up, preparing for their own internships.
