Saturday morning dawned with a clear sky and a gentle breeze, perfect for a day at the park. Sakura arrived at the designated spot, picnic basket in hand, expecting to meet Hinata for their long-awaited girls' day out.To her surprise, it wasn't Hinata who approached her, but Sasuke, looking slightly out of place in casual attire. Sakura blinked in confusion before realization dawned on her."Sasuke?" Sakura asked, raising an eyebrow.
"What are you doing here?"
Sasuke, somewhat awkwardly, replied, "Naruto tricked me into coming. He said he needed my help with something urgent."
Sakura chuckled softly. "Looks like we both fell for Naruto's scheme."Seating themselves on the grass near a serene pond, they exchanged amused glances, feeling oddly comfortable in each other's unexpected company.
"Well," Sakura began, unpacking the picnic basket, "since we're both here now, we might as well enjoy the day."
Sasuke nodded, a faint smile playing on his lips. "I suppose."
Sakura glanced at Sasuke, a playful glint in her eye. "So, Sasuke Uchiha, what does a detective like you do on his days off? Besides getting tricked into picnics?"
Sasuke leaned back, considering her question. "Days off are rare," he admitted. "But when I do get them, I usually train or catch up on paperwork. Sometimes I just wander around the city."
"Sounds like you don't really take breaks," Sakura observed, pouring them both cups of tea from a thermos. "Don't you ever feel the need to unwind?"
"Not really," Sasuke replied with a shrug. "Work keeps me focused."
Sakura raised an eyebrow. "You mean work like chasing down criminals and solving mysteries?"
Sasuke chuckled softly. "Something like that."
As they nibbled on sandwiches and shared stories about their lives outside of work, the conversation turned more personal.
"So, what about you, Sakura?" Sasuke asked, genuinely curious. "What does a head doctor do in her spare time?"
Sakura smiled, sipping her tea thoughtfully. "I try to unwind by reading or gardening. Sometimes I volunteer at local clinics.""Volunteering, huh?" Sasuke mused. "That's admirable.""It helps me stay connected to why I became a doctor in the first place," Sakura explained. "Helping people."
Sasuke nodded, a newfound respect for Sakura's dedication evident in his eyes. "I can relate to that."
As the day progressed, Sasuke found himself enjoying Sakura's company more than he expected. They laughed over shared interests and debated light-hearted topics, their conversation flowing effortlessly. At one point, Sakura caught Sasuke staring at the pond, lost in thought.
"What are you thinking about?"Sasuke glanced at her, a rare vulnerability flickering in his eyes. "Just... how different today turned out from what I expected."Sakura smiled gently.
"Sometimes, unexpected surprises can be the best part of life."Sasuke found himself drawn to Sakura's easygoing nature and genuine warmth. They shared stories of their childhood, their dreams, and aspirations, finding surprising similarities despite their different career paths.
"So, Sakura," Sasuke began, breaking a comfortable silence between them, "what made you choose to specialize in emergency medicine?"Sakura paused, reflecting on her journey.
"I've always wanted to make a difference," she explained softly. "To be there when people need help the most. It's challenging but incredibly rewarding."Sasuke nodded thoughtfully.
