"I'm tired. I don't want to do it anymore," I say, leaning against the wall and closing my eyes.

"Come on, Billie. We have to get this done," he says.

"It's stupid! I hate it,"

"It's not stupid. Do you wanna take a little break? We can do that if you really want to," I nod and get up.

"I'm going to get some water," I tell him and leave the room and go to his kitchen.

"You guys done already?" Claudia asks. She's making something.

"No, we're taking a break because I hate everything," I tell her, and she laughs a little. "What are you making?"

"Just some cookies. I got bored, and we had all the ingredients, so I decided to make some,"

"Well, they smell good,"

"Thank you," she smiles. "I was gonna go out tonight. You wanna come with me?"

"Out where?"

"Just a bar. You don't have to drink. I just figured that you'd want to get out and be around people," I nod.

"Sure,"

"Okay, well, we can go when you guys are done," I nod again and sigh.

"Well, I better get going before Finneas yells at me to get back down there,"

"Don't overthink it," she reminds me as I walk back downstairs and see Finneas messing with things for the song we're making.

"You good now?" He asks.

"I guess,"

-

We get to the bar and sit at a table in the corner. It's only Claudia, Finneas and me. Claudia gets a drink, and Finneas orders some food. I just sit here silently. I don't know why I agreed to come here. It's not like I can do anything. The only good thing about it is that the people here are too drunk to realize who I am. I observe all the people. Some are too drunk to walk properly. Some are helping a friend outside. Most are just having casual conversations. I look at a bar and see a group of people that are about my age. There's like six of them together. There was one girl who stuck out to me. She is gorgeous. She has a drink in her hand and she's talking to somebody. I watch another girl go over and kiss her on the cheek. Damn. She's got a girlfriend. She looks over at me and smiles and looks away.

"I'm gonna go to the bathroom," I get up and go to the bathroom. I walk into a stall and just stand there. I just needed to be somewhere less crowded for a few minutes. I hear the door open again and two people talking. Well, it sounds more like arguing.

"Will you stop doing all of that? I don't like it," one girl says. Another scoffs.

"Really? You don't like it? Why don't you just go find someone else who is able to figure out what you want because I can't seem to figure it out. You're so fucking confusing, Y/n," the second girl says. I should not be in here to hear this.

"Can you just leave me alone? I'm tired of your shit," the first girl says. I'm gonna leave the stall. I open the door, and the girls look at me. It's the pretty girl and the girl I saw kissing her cheek. The other girl rolls her eyes and leaves, and I go to wash my hands. The pretty girl sighs and leans against the wall.

"Sorry, I didn't know someone was in here," she says.

"It's alright," I say. "Trouble in paradise?" She shakes her head.

"Far from it," I grab some paper towels to dry my hands. "We're not dating, and there's nothing going on between us, so I don't know why she acts like there is."

"You have no idea why she thinks that?" I ask.

"Well, I guess I do. It's just..." she stops.

"Complicated?"

"Very complicated," she says.

"Well, I'm sure if you talk about it, you'll eventually figure something out," I tell her.

"I know I just don't know what to say. She doesn't listen. I've tried telling here there's nothing going on between us so many times, but she just doesn't listen," she sighs. "Sorry, I don't mean to bother you. You're a stranger,"

"What's your name?" I ask her. She gives me a confused look before answering.

"Y/n," she says.

"Pretty name. I'm Billie,"

"Like, Billie Eilish," she says. I nod. "I knew I recognized you. I don't really listen to your music, so I don't exactly know you. No offense,"

"None taken. If the music I make isn't for you, then it just isn't for you," I tell her, and she laughs.

"You know you're really good at giving advice,"

"I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not,"

"I'm not. Even though everything you've said is something I've tried multiple times before, it's still good,"

"Good. Although, if you really don't want anything with her, then you have to directly say that. I feel like you haven't done that yet,"

"Well, you're feeling would be right. I haven't because I know if I do, she'll leave, and then I won't have anything,"

"I thought you guys weren't together,"

"We're not, but it's not like nothing is happening between us," I immediately understand what she's implying.

"Oh, she's here for a potential relationship, and you're only in it for a little bit of a fun time," she nods. "I know that situation all too well. I've done that a few times myself, and I've been on both ends of it. I'd say that the best thing you can do is just end it. And then just focus on yourself for a little while. What are you twenty-something?"

"Twenty-two," she says. I nod.

"Yeah, definitely get out of that situation. Especially if it's not something you want in the long run. Don't drag someone else along in the little game you want to play. Too many people get hurt if you do that. Including yourself,"

"What do you mean?"

"The guilt you feel afterward. How many people in a row did you just casually try to hook up with to distract yourself from the fact that you've hurt someone else?" She looks down.

"Too many that's for damn sure," she admits.

"That's what I thought," I say, and I walk over to her. "You don't have to listen to anything I'm saying. It's your life. You can do what you want with it," I start walking to the door.

"Wait," she says, and I turn to look at her. "Do you think I could get your number or something? You know, for any more future advice," I sigh and debate it for a second. Do I really want to give my number to a stranger? Whatever. She's pretty. I nod, and she gives me her phone. I put my number in put my name as Billie and handed it back to her.

"I better get going," I tell her. "Let me know how it goes with your fuck buddy," I say and leave. I get back to the table and sit where I was before.

"Where the hell have you been? You've been gone for a while?" Claudia asks me.

"Just getting some fresh air,"

"In the bathroom?" Finneas asks, and I roll my eyes.

"I think I'm gonna go home," I tell them and get up again.

"How are you gonna get home? We drove you here. And your car is at our house," Claudia says.

"I'll just get an Uber to your house and drive home from there. I just want to be alone right now," I tell them and leave. What an interesting thirty minutes of my life.
