(Hazel)

Hazel was worried. She had always had a complicated relationship with Leo. Feelings or no. I mean, of course, just as she got together with Frank, seemingly Sammy Valdez, her last boyfriend, comes back to life. Then said guy blows up her home. And apparently is a different guy.

She both hated and loved this new Sammy, and hated how he tugged her heartstrings and made her heart ache over having to choose between Frank, her new boyfriend, who had saved her life multiple times, was big, dorky, and clumsy, but lovable, loyal, and there for her all the same, or Leo Valdez, who reminded her so much of Sammy, was funny, annoying, witty, smart, creative, dorky, and sometimes stupid.

She guessed she liked Leo/Sammy not only because he reminded her of Sammy, but also because she thought that if she was kind to him and repaired their relationship, Sammy could forgive her for dying and leaving him, and maybe help bring his memories back, like how Percy and Jason got theirs.

But once she realized Leo was actually the great grandson of Sammy, Hazel felt so bad and so embarrassed, and so ashamed, and so guilty, and so sad, and...so relieved . Embarrassed because she was crushing on her ex's great grandson while dating someone. Shame for the same reason. Guilty because Sammy really was gone and she made him believe her death was his faullt. Sad because she would never laugh or see him again. But relieved because now Leo and Hazel both knew that they couldnt date. That Frank was all hers. All the love romantic stuff was behind them and they could be just friends. Friends was perfect.

And Leo...was so kind about it. He didn't encroach on Hazel romantically, he cleared things up with Frank, he helped Hazel with this, and later they even shared stories about themselves and family with each other. Hazel would share stories about Sammy and her mom, and Leo would share tales about his mom. She wished she could have had Esperanza as a mom, she sounded so kind and loving, and for some reason knew that Esperanza would have accepted her as an adopted daughter. When she learned she died, she just realized how close and how trusting he was of her. Leo shared his hardest moment with Hazel (A/N: haha. No. He shared one of his hardest moments. He's gone through things that were just as or even harder).

And then He told her his plan. She hated it. She hated the plan. She wished there was a different way. Any way, for them all to live without one of them dying. But she knew there wasnt. That this was the best plan. Gaea was going to fall to Leo, and Leo would fall as well. And they did. In a ball of exploding fire they died.

When that explosion happened, so many thoughts and regrets and memories went through her head. She shoud've stopped him. The times Leo taught her modern stuff. She should've made sure Leo ate more. She should've talked to him one last time right before the final battle. The Shrimpzilla attack. Leo going to her to draw Calypso. The nymphs. She set an internal to go meet up with Echo after this. The Nemesis encounter. She sould've included Leo more and made him feel more welcome, to not make him be the seventh wheel.
