Red Hood Pov

Mantle

11:29 PM

Leaning over the edge of the building I found myself on, I watched the Knights below. The group of nine in three rows of three walking down the street. Other than the tin cans, no one was in the streets. The district I stopped in was subject to a curfew. Any who broke it would probably be spending the night in jail. If only that was the only penalty that I was facing should I get caught.

I wasn't supposed to be here. I should be in Atlas right now, but thanks to a little stealth, I stowed away on a patrol. No one is the wiser that I was down here, and I aim to keep it that way. This is the very thing Ironwood warned me about. He was looking for a excuse and this would be it. Best if I keep to my plan and just get a general idea of how things are nowadays.

Taking a step back away from the edge, I turned around and started sprinting with my grapple in my hand. Once I reached the edge of the roof, I leaped. Aiming the grapple and firing, the claw latches onto the ledge of the building opposite. Hauling me up, I petal burst into the edge and brought myself onto the roof. Rinse and repeat until I found another vantage point.

Overall, Mantle was quiet. At least it was quiet where the the Knights actively patrolled in force. My curiosity piqued and I decided to venture to a district that didn't have curfew. That didn't have Knights around every corner. I went back to the Docs district. The place had a few Knights but most of them were spread thin there. How long would it take for me to find something?

Hitting the roof running, I stopped at the edge of the building and hopped down onto the fire escape on the side of the building. The alleyway below being completely consumed by darkness. Navigating my mask features to turn on night vision, my head felt like it was splitting open. I leaned down, clutching my head. Seconds later, a scream rang out in the distance.

Been a while since I got one of those headaches, wish it wasn't followed by a scream. I shot the grapple up and out towards the building across the street. The origin of the scream couldn't have been too far away from where I was now. It didn't take long before I found something out of place. On the ground was a woman who was sprawled out.

I dropped down into the alleyway. The darkness being just as thick as the alley before it. Only difference was that there was someone here. Moving to the woman, I gently turned her over. The vacant stare in her eyes telling me that it was too late. Whoever did this was quick and knew not to leave any outward evidence.

I started with her pockets, then her purse. I wanted to put a name to the face. Start with finding out who she was. The murders that Ironwood brought to our attention being the first thing to pop into mind. I wanted to make sure that this was actually part of the string of murders before I started pursuing it as such.

Getting her wallet, I found that her name was Dana Vaughn, 31 years old. Opening her scroll, her contact list was barren, though there was one notable name. Robyn Hill. It seems everywhere I look, I find her somewhere. Thought they liked their subtlety. Closing the scroll, I pulled out mine and decided to make a call while I searched the body a little more thoroughly for any markings contusive with foul play.

Pietro: Hello?

Red Hood: Hey Doc, hope I didn't wake you.

Pietro: No, no... I still got another few hours before I normally call it a night.

Red Hood: Glad to hear that. Listen, does the name Dana Vaughn ring any bells?

I pulled up the woman in questions sleeves to take a look at her arms. The only thing she had on them was a small tattoo on her right arm, and nothing on her left. Nothing that helps me at the moment. I started to do the same with her legs.
