Sitting beside Amanda, I watch the pool of water her hands are submerged in start to glow, flashing different colors of the rainbow, kaleidoscope shapes shifting and layering underneath the surface.

"I found them." She states shakily, her eyes growing wide. I lean in to her side, glancing at the water in hopes to see them. Clanking sounds come from outside, the mages army moving swiftly into the camp.

"Amanda, you have to do it now." I call out to her. She squeezes her eyes in concentration and pain, a cry leaving her now shaking body.

"I can't! Help me!" She begs of Wakti, who obliges, moving to her other side and sliding her hands into the water. The pool glows brighter, and Amanda regains control over her movements, eyes snapping open. Our three figures are thrown backwards as water splashes up from the pool, soaking us. Three figures clad in white straight jackets stand in front of us, each with a red number from one to three, all looking wildly around in intense interest. The sound of dozens of footsteps draw their attentions outside, exiting out the door with grins on their faces. Shouting sounds out a moment after their departures. Crawling over I help Amanda up, both turning to help Wakti up. I sit back down, staring at the entrance, a dopey grin on my face. They're back.

...

Standing just in front of the beaded entrance, I watch Amanda pull the three boys into tight embraces one by one, smiling brightly. I chuckle, rubbing my arms subconsciously, attempting to warm my cold and wet skin. A twig snap captures my attention, swiveling my head to peer behind me, closely examining the treeline. Shifting the rest of my body, I stand straighter, reaching for the small dagger at my hip. But I'm stopped as a shawl is draped over my shoulders, making me jump. I twist around.

"Martin..." He smiles at me, the dark circles around his eyes having disappeared after feasting on the army's energies.

"Sweetheart..." He adjusts the shawl, tightening it around my frame. "You look cold."

"I'm fine. Just glad you guys are back."

"Yeah?" He raises an eyebrow, a smirk growing on his face.

"Oh, like you weren't worried about me." I say, turning back to the treeline. His arms slip around my hips, locking hands in front of me.

"Come on, sit by the fire, you're freezing." He scolds me playfully, pulling me with him. He drops one of his arms, leaving the other to rest on my waist, as I wrap one of my own around his back, grabbing onto the cream white material of his jacket. He guides me towards Amanda, letting me sit beside her, while he sits on my other side, Cross coming to join him while Vogel sits directly beside Amanda, having grown closer to her during the separation, and Gripps sits beside him. I lean my head onto Martin's shoulder, leaning into his side, interlacing our hands together.

"So, what kind of a cuckoo place is this?"
