"Did Ben know this? That Elena was really in charge?" Rob asked.
"I don't know but Thea kept going on about the Irish, how they'd want revenge for what had happened and how they'd go looking for us."
"For us?"
"Elena wanted to take me with her, she had a boat, that's all I know."
"So go back to what happened after Thea was shot."
"Thea was screaming, Elena was kicking her over and over again and then somehow she was back cuddling me, kissing my neck but when I looked at Thea she kept shaking her leg, pointing to it with her eyes. Elena let go of me and I realised she didn't have her gun anymore so I grabbed Thea's."
"And where was Thea's gun?"
"On her leg. That's what she was getting me to look at. I told Elena to leave her alone but she kept walking over to her. She said Thea was almost dead anyway and I wouldn't be able to shoot her but I did. I shot her."
"Then what did you do?"
"I went to Thea." She smiled while the tears rolled down her eyes. "She told me to leave her and check Jemal, she knew she was bad but she still wanted him to be checked out before her. I wanted to ring for help but she said you guys were coming and you'd be there soon... She told me she was dying. I'm sorry, I can't. I can't do anymore, I can't go there yet."
"That's ok. That's fine. What you've given us is so helpful Carla. You've done really well ok. I just need to make a few phone calls. Rob, with me." Ruth walked out the room and he followed as always.
"What do you think Ma'am?"
"She's sincere but she's clearly traumatised. You know what these things are like, she'll remember some more stuff, others she'll block out entirely but it's a start. What she's given us is something to go off at least."
"What about shooting Elena when she was unarmed?"
"The woman was trying to abduct her and had just shot her wife, I think that'll be good enough for them but what I don't understand is-"
"Outside." Rob cut her off. "How the fuck T managed to get in there in the first place. It's impressive."
"It was a massacre Rob."
"That's the thing I mean, Thea's very skilled, she's very talented but she's not fucking Rambo is she?"
"No. She's not. The car though. She left the car, she knew she was looking at an ambush."
"Yeah there's an ambush and then there's seeing a group of the Irish's finest and going up against them anyway!"
"It's not important right now, what's important is Thea thought they'd be a threat. They need to be spoken to."
"What's left of them. They were still working their way back after Thea's undercover investigation and now she's taken out their remaining main players."
"Which elevates her status from their most wanted to dead woman walking. Sorry, that was inappropriate."
"Don't worry about it Ma'am. We're all shattered."
"Carla's waiting on a psych evaluation although she seems much better now than earlier. Then she can go home, their house, the address was never compromised but I don't want her left on her own."
"She can stay at ours."
"I know this feels like it's over but until we know where the Irish are with everything, there's still a threat and you have a new baby."
"Thea once told me that Carla was the most important thing in her life and the only person she trusted in the world to protect her was me. I'm not letting her down now."
