PERSONALITY AND CHARACTER ANALYSIS: Sakari Wǔ was as much of a realist as she was a romantic. Most people wrote her off as too much of a dreamer or labeled her as ditzy because she was very bubbly and affectionate. She was actually very intelligent and wise beyond her years. She had a way with children and was very responsible, which are two of the many reasons why she made a fantastic babysitter. She was also very independent and brave, willing to put her safety on the line to do the right thing.
Despite being wise, her emotions sometimes clouded her judgement. She was also known to bury her negative emotions until she exploded, which essentially made her a very unstable person. After her babysitting job left her traumatized, she was less bubbly and did not open up to people as much. She was also a very sentimental person.BACKSTORY: Sakari Wǔ was born to two loving parents. Her father was a police detective and her mother was a housewife. When she was twelve years old, her father was assigned as one of the detectives on a case involving the murder of several people. The murderer, known as Baby Blue, was found out, but he committed suicide before he could suffer from any punishment. Sakari's father felt like a failure. Traumatized by the deaths, he became fixated on the case, which ultimately became the reason for his divorce from his wife, who got sole custody of their daughter despite how difficult he fought to be in Sakari's life.
Sakari grew up detached from her father because her mother never let them see each other, which led to a strained relationship between Sakari and her father. Sakari had a normal life from that point on. She made friends, went to college, and got a boyfriend named JJ (or your male character). While trying to pay for college, she worked part-time as a babysitter and quickly discovered that she had a wonderful way with children. However, when she was eighteen years old, she had a horrifying experience that made her quit babysitting forever.
One of the children that she was babysitting, who was a very quiet, well-behaved, and shy boy, suddenly became what seemed to be possessed after watching a video.FANDOM SPECIFIC CONTINUATION: This video was on a phone that his older brother found in an old house in Altadena while going down a true crime rabbit hole. Sadly, the seemingly possessed child committed suicide on behalf of "Baby Blue" and Sakari was never the same after that, but she never told anyone about it because she thought that they would call her crazy.
Until JJ, his brother August, his sister Alice, and their friend Hutch, began looking into Baby Blue for their documentary. She didn't tell them everything, but she said that looking into the case would bring them all bad luck and threatened to break up with JJ if he didn't let the case go. JJ didn't want Sakari to break up with him, but he became fixated on the case, which reminded her of how her father became, and she broke up with JJ before she could lose him, leaving him a brokenhearted wreck.
Sakari completely detached herself from the group, only to discover that Hutch died a few days later, and that JJ, August, and Alice had gotten several leads on the case. They were convinced that it was paranormal and that they were all being haunted by Baby Blue's ghost. Sakari believed them immediately and opened up to them about what happened to the little boy that she babysat. She talked to JJ later and admitted that she broke up with him because she didn't want him to go down the same rabbit hole that her father went down or end up dead like the boy that she babysat. He apologized to her and said that he wished that she had told him sooner, but that he understood why she didn't. They shared a kiss, but it is unclear whether or not they got back together.
JJ and his siblings felt guilty when they heard Saraki's full story, but they said that they couldn't promise not to keep investigating the case because they felt like it was their responsibility to advocate for Baby Blue's victims, including Saraki's father. After thinking about the case for a long time, Saraki decided that she wanted to help them with it in order to avenge her father. Unfortunately, the deeper into the case that they went, the more danger that they put themselves in.
August started to become possessed, so he was locked in his room, gagged, and tied down so that he couldn't get out and kill himself under Baby Blue's influence. Sakari stayed with him to comfort him while JJ and Alice went to see Baby Blue's mother and sister for more details on the case. JJ was possessed by Baby Blue and broke out of his shackles despite how much Sakari tried to stop him. He managed to fight back and was safe. Unfortunately, Sakari was not safe. Baby Blue possessed her and made her jump out of the window to her demise. JJ never got over her death and her ghost still haunts him.Fun Fact: Sakari's last name means "Five" in Chinese, which alludes to the fact that she was the fifth one to get possessed and the last one to die.
