Meeting the Parents

Approaching Ryder's house, we had been mindlessly cruising along the way jamming to endless 'S Club 7' soundtracks.

Sure I still felt a little on edge in meeting his parents right now knowing they had no idea who I even was at this time, but besides that, it was pretty chill so far.

"Well, how do you feel?" Ryder asked me cautiously staring out to the house, seeing his parents' car parked in the lot.

Sighing to myself, I smiled through anyway and nodded turning to him carefully. "A little worried but, I know as long as I got you here with me I should be good." I admitted.

Smiling back, he moved one of his hands over to mine clutching it soft and gently squeezing. "You rock my world, Harper..."

Not letting go until we had to just to get out of the car but reconnected, we suddenly then made it to the front door as Ryder grabbed his keys—opening it up and holding the door for me. Once we both made it in everything obviously still looked the same since our 'sleepover' blunder.

Well, until I heard something else. More like someones.

"John, have you seen my pager anywhere?" His mother, Marylin McKenna called out.

"You know, instead of fussing and worrying about that old thing Mary, you can get something new. They don't even use pagers anymore. Maybe you should take up getting one of those cool flip phones." His father, John McKenna answered.

"If it was a rave in the 90s, it still works just fine as is to me. Can't keep up with these kids anymore these days. Something is always considered new." She defended.

Turning to face Ryder who kept shyly cleared his throat at first as we approached his kitchen, they didn't hear a peep and kept scrambling around or going through their mail on the counter.

"Well I'll keep looking, but I don't know why you just can't-" John started to say, before looking up for once finally. Soon peering up ahead...he finally saw us standing there with his eyes now widened in shock. "Marylin..."

Hearing his steady umber voice, she soon did the same but added an extra gasp in her reaction. "Oh my gosh, a girl!" She blurted, jumping.

"Yeah...hi to you too, Mom." Ryder said to them.

"Ryder Jackson McKenna! We weren't expecting company, honey." Marilyn spoke a bit panicky.

"Well I know, but it's okay! She's good. Actually, now that I got both of your undivided attention I wanted you guys to meet someone very special to me. So uh...Mom and Dad, this is my girlfriend, Faith Harper." He firmly uttered, pulling me close to his shoulders sweetly.

My eyes widening, I looked over to him astonished myself. If I could scream and shout to the rooftops right now I would've, but my eyes and ears felt like they were deceiving me, but they most certainly weren't. I couldn't have been happier though.

"Hi..." His mom was frozen, smiling. "Hi!" She cried out again at me.

I giggled and waved. "Hi! It's so great to finally meet you, Mr. and Mrs. McKenna. You have a lovely home. Ryder's told me a lot about you both." I introduced. Hey, they didn't have to know it was mostly bad.

"Did he now?! Well, I can't believe he brought you here to meet us. Honey, look at our baby boy growing up!" She screamed. Ryder smirked shaking his head shyly, somewhat embarrassed. He didn't have to be. It was cute.

"Look at my son! A super stud. Managed to grab a mighty catch too!" John exclaimed.

"Dad!" Ryder shrieked blushing.
