Aaryan's POV

So, the interview didn't go well. I thought I had it in me, but it wasn't the case. In the past few years, I haven't given any interviews, and despite knowing the answers, I couldn't convey them to the interviewer. They told me they couldn't move forward with the process and had to leave me out. I tried to cheer myself up as I came out of the lift. It was just the first interview, I told myself positively, trying to hold myself together.

I put on a smile as I saw Kavya and our neighbor chatting in the lobby. They mentioned something about a cruise, and there was a spark of excitement on Kavya's face. I approached them, smiling, and was about to enter our flat.

Their laughter and excitement dampened a bit as Kavya said goodbye and came inside. I placed my socks near the door and laid down on the sofa.

"Aaryan... socks again," she sighed.

"Not right now," I mumbled. She had told me countless times not to leave my socks lying around. I'm not a messy person, I keep things in their place, but sometimes I forget, and she calls me out every single time. It was getting quite annoying.

With my eyes closed, I could hear her footsteps as she went to the kitchen and returned.

"Here," she said, offering me a glass of water. She sat down beside me as I rested my back on the sofa.

"Thanks," I said, taking a few sips and placing the glass on the table.

"Why did it take you so long? were you at interview? you didn't even tell me" she guessed from my outfit, her voice filled with concern.

"I waited for hours before the interview started. The interviewer came in the evening," I replied wearily. The long interview had sucked all the energy out of me. "Anyways, how did it go with Natasha?"

I could see her excitement bubble up for a moment, but then she composed herself.

"Yeah, it was okay. We can talk later. Let me serve food, okay? Go freshen up," she said.

"Okay," I agreed, feeling the hunger gnawing at me.

In a few minutes, we were seated at the table. I heard some noise in the lobby. She seemed so thrilled talking with the neighbor lady. I didn't understand why she wasn't sharing it with me.

"So... spill the beans?" I asked, taking the first bite.

"You first," she replied. "You can tell me what's on your mind. I know you had a rough day."

"What... I'm fine. Okay, forget it," I surrendered, focusing on my food.

"Hey..." She placed her hand on mine, and our eyes met.

"It's just that I had an amazing day, but you seemed to have a rough one. I didn't want to be insensitive," she explained.

Wow, I never thought of it that way. She could have easily shut me up and shared her own fairy tale of the day, but she chose to listen to me first. It surprised me. I felt like I should take my heart out of my closet and put it into hers.

I just smiled, "It's okay," I chuckled a bit. "It doesn't affect me much. Hearing something good might make me feel happy again," I said.

And her switch turned on. She almost jumped while telling me, excitement sparkling in her eyes. She recounted all about her day and how much fun she had. "...and before leaving, she invited us to the cruise this weekend."

"Wow," I was amazed at the invitation.

"I've never been on one before... We're going, right?" Her eyes eagerly awaited my answer.

"Of course, we are," I replied. It had been a while since I had some fun. Anyway, it would refresh my mind for the weekend.

"She said it's a double date," she said, tilting her head a little, blushing a bit.

"Double date it is," I said, and we laughed a little. She couldn't hold the eye contact; I tried looking at her multiple times.

As we finished dinner, I settled down on the couch and glanced at my smartphone.

I looked up as I heard footsteps. She came in with a bag, seeming like she did some shopping. She unwrapped the wrappers and pulled out a beautiful dress. I was amazed; she did have a good fashion sense, I thought to myself.

"How is it?" she asked.

"Amazing," I replied, shaking my head while looking at her, a small smile curling up on my face.

Wow, I never thought of this. She was so happy just showing me the dress she bought. I mean, how can someone be this happy doing little things? I had a lot to learn from her.

"We need to match outfits," she said, and I went totally blank. I didn't know what to say at that point. Before I could say anything, I found myself in the bedroom as she opened the closet and started looking for shirts for me.

I won't lie, I completely forgot about the bad day I had. I spent the next two hours changing into different outfits while she made faces, and I had to guess that the outfit wasn't a good fit. Anyway, we managed to select two outfits, and I was exhausted. But hey, I did get a kiss on my cheek for all my hard work, so I was happy. I slept like a baby.

Thanks for reading. So, are you guys ready for the cruise? Anyway, don't forget to add a star, please.
