Svava had had a hard life, she had been in the foster care since she was born, times were though and people did not adopt children like they used to. It was hard to get a job and people were either very rich or very poor. Svava had to fight tooth and nails for every meal she could get, she did not make any friends since you had to protect what you had and there were a lot of snitches and thief's everywhere. In the foster home, they got a place to sleep and one lousy meal a day, they could either be satisfied with that one meal or go to the streets to beg or steal, this was her life and it had been hard but she was tough and had a will to survive. The day she turned sixteen she had to leave the foster home and fend for herself. She had been preparing for the exit so she had some savings stashed, she had done what she had to to survive, she begged or stole to get what she needed or else she would become hungry, she only targeted people that would not cry if they lost a few bucks, it was easy to see who was an easy mark and who was not, at least for her. She had enough saved to get a little room with ten other girls.

One day out of pure curiosity she decided to help a man that was about to be robbed, it was an older man but she could see he had money, still there was something about him that made her watch him more closely, for once in her life she decided to prevent the mugger from stealing from the old man, just as he was about to be robbed she stopped it and helped him, this once in a lifetime kindness on her part changed her life. He owned a construction company and since he was so thankful to the young girl he asked her if she would like a job on a construction site, he told her that the work was hard but she could learn a lot from it, she could learn how to build houses and in time if she was a hard worker he was willing to send her to school to learn to be a architect, for the first time in her whole life something good was finally happening to her, she accepted the job and worked very hard. She had been working for the old man for six years, in that time she had build many houses, he had been true to his word and had paid for her to go to night school, she worked all day and studied all night, she really loved building things, she loved making things with her own hands, she learned so many things, and she could even build her own house if she liked, she was so thankful to the old man, yes life was still hard but now she had a purpose, she could be somebody, make something out of herself so she kept at it, the few leisure time she had she spent it reading, she loved reading since she could fantasise about happy things, where her stories had a a happy ending and the female lead always ended up with the male lead or male leads. Her favourite books were beast world stories, she read all the stories she could get about that subject. She had read the story Beauty and the beasts but did not manage to finish it because she just could not stand the female lead and how she treated the males that loved her, it had been a long time since she read that story so she did not remember much, she would come to regret not reading the whole story and not remembering it better.

It was a Friday, which meant it was going to be a long day, it was only two pm but she was so tired, she had been studying so hard for an exam she was going to take in the evening, she had to ace it, she just had to, she was preoccupied remembering what she had been reading, she was carrying a heavy sack of dry cement, it was almost as heavy as her but she had grown strong working there and she did not let it stop her being a female amongst only men. If only she had been paying attention she would have seen hole she was about to walk into but her mind was somewhere else, she walked until there was no ground to walk on, she fell with the heavy sack, it was a deep hole so the fall was hard, she panicked and held on to the sack, she should have let it go but she did not, she fell down hard and the sack fell on her stomach, she was alive but barley, the sack was so heavy and it was constructing her to breath properly, she could only take small breaths, she was in so much pain but she could not scream, she did not have air to do it. She laid there thinking about her miserable life, she had thought she would finally be able to have a chance, have a better life, become somebody, fall in love and start a family, but something told her she would not live to be able to make those dreams come true, she could only take shallow gasps of air until she could not and finally she succumbed to her injuries and suffocated to death because of a sack of dry cement.
