The kingdom of Silla was known for it's beauty and elegance. But the other thing it was famous for was their princess, their pride, Kim Y/N who was soon getting married to the prince of Baekje. Her beauty and valour were admired by a lot of them. The whispers of her beauty were everywhere.
"Princess, the king has summoned you", a maid said. Y/N nodded making her way to her father's chamber.
He sat in balcony staring out, deep in thoughts. "The tension with Goguryeo has escalated. War is inevitable".
Hearing the word 'War', her heart sank. She stepped forward, "Why always a War? Why can't we befriend them?".
Her father looked at her, "They've been our rivals for ages, Y/N. We can't do anything. I prefer you to prepare yourself cause I know you are the only person who can defeat the prince of Goguryeo".
'The prince', Y/N thought. She had heard a lot of this stories and the strategies he came up with, everytime he amazed her, "If I'm getting a chance to see the prince so why not", she murmured.
While, the kingdom of Goguryeo was known for it's strategic skills and military strength. Their prince, Yoon Jeonghan, was adored by everyone, his strong mind and powerful skills with sword, were known among all the warriors.
He was an embodiment of a warrior prince - tall, muscular, his sharp features made him look both dangerous and noble. However he depised one thing, War.
Even in his kingdom, he would hear the whispers of the beautiful princess of Silla, with each whisper, his wish to see her grew. Her stories about her bravery made him curious, every time he heard her stories, a proud feeling crept into him.
"Why can't we try to befriend them?", he asked, "Why should it always be a War when we know it's going to end up causing more trouble".
The king raised his eyebrow, "You are talking about befriending our rivals? Jeonghan, you are a warrior. War should be running in your blood".
Jeonghan shook his head in disbelief, "War may be in my blood but.....but peace is in my heart. I love our kingdom and I'm ready to fight for it unless it harms my people. But this War? It's just for pride and nothing else".
His father sighed in frustration, "It's not going to happen, the preparations has started".
The day came soon. Both the kingdoms were in battlefield. The air was thick with tension as the swords clashed. Amidst this, Jeonghan's eyes searched for one person, Y/N.
"Why am I even thinking of her? No kingdom allows their princess in the battlefield", he thought.
Within some moments Jeonghan came across a woman, her long hair tied back and clad in armor, he immediately recognized her, the princess.
Their eyes met, Y/N was captivated by his presence. In that moment, they realised they have finally met the person they had longed to see. Y/N felt a weird feeling creeping into her, she knew Jeonghan felt it too.
A sudden movement caught Jeonghan's attention, with breaking his gaze, he quickly took down the enemy soldier who threatened him. Y/N's admiration grew seeing his skills.
As they closed the distance between them, their sword clashed. "I've heard a lot about your beauty", Jeonghan said, his voice firm, "But sometimes words capture to fail the reality. Those words did no justice to you".
Y/N blocked his attack, her eyes fixed on his, "I've heard you're great with sword, Prince Jeonghan. I wanted to see it myself".
Jeonghan smiled, a glint of admiration in his eyes, "I fight for my people and for peace. This War is pointless".
Y/N nodded, "I see we have something in common. I depise this War too and I fight for my kingdom too".
Their swords clashed again, "If only our father would listen", Jeonghan said, "There could be another way".
They realised it wasn't a fight for war to them but rather an opportunity to connect. Soon the force on their swords.
"Maybe we can find another way", Y/N said, her voice filled with determination. Jeonghan chuckled, "Well, I'm loving your determination".
In a swift move, Y/N managed to get her sword to Jeonghan's neck, "They say you are good with sword. I don't think so", she taunted.
Jeonghan smirked, twisting her arm pulling herback against his chest. She struggled but his grip remained same–firm and soft, "If anyone sees you holding me like this, they'll behead you".
Jeonghan smiled, "At least better than a forced marriage". Y/N stopped her struggle, "What are you talking about?".
Jeonghan chuckled, "You know what I'm talking about. Remember we are rivals, we need to know each and every move our rivals are doing".
Jeonghan leaned closer, "I know about the forced marriage", he whispered, "I know you don't want it".
"What can you do about it?", Y/N asked.
"A lot", Jeonghan said before whistling and a horse galloping to his side. In one fluid motion, he mounted the horse offering her his hand. "Come with me", Jeonghan said, his eyes full of sincerity.
Y/N raised her eye brows, "Are you sure? You can banished from your kingdom for this".
His smile was unwavering, "You know the main reason I'm here? For you. I just came here to take a glimpse of you princess".
Taking his hand, Y/N mounted the horse, sitting in front of him. She was trapped between his hands, their body close. As the horse galloped, she asked again, "Are you still sure about this?".
Jeonghan looked down at her, his eyes filled with determination and warmth, "For you, I would face any consequences. You are worth it".
Her heart flutter at his words, finding a comfort in his embrace. Together, they rode away from the battlefield, leaving behind their kingdoms and the War. Their future was uncertain, but in that moment they knew, they had found something worth fighting for.
