I placed the wet cloth on Cai's forehead for the fourth time in one hour today.

He's had this fever since Dre left, I've given him medicines, tried taking him to see Morrison.

Nothing works.

I hate when he's sick, I don't like it when he's crying and there's nothing I can do to help him.

As I'm getting ready to move away from him he starts crying, oh boy.

"Cai, I'm only going to get you something to drink" I tell him.

He sat up and hugged me.

I end up taking him with me, still crying.

He didn't want the juice, he didn't want any water, he hasn't been eating, I don't know what else to do.

I'm starting to get really overwhelmed by his sickness and his crying, there's nothing to help him feel better.

Having his body against mine felt like I was in a furnace, but I can't put him down.

"Does your head hurt baby?", he nods in response while crying still, "okay, okay, we're going to see Morrison".

I went back upstairs to get my purse and the car keys, he's already dressed in matching sweatpants and a hoodie, I wanted him to sweat out the illness but so far he's just burning up.

When I tried to change him into something else, he started shivering and saying that he was cold, I had to leave him in these since he was comfortable in them.

He had socks on his feet, I didn't need to put him in a slipper.

As I'm by the door to open it, it opens and I step back to see who it was, everybody else was over here to help with Cai this morning until he fell asleep, then he woke up with a higher fever.

Dre's figure came into view once I stepped back and the door opened some more.

He immediately dropped his stuff to take the baby from me, "hey, where were you going?".

The shock and relief of seeing him caused a weight to lift off of me, I almost passed out from the exhaustion I had to suppress for these past few days Cai had been sick.

Dre helped me to the couch, I sat down and let out a breathless sigh.

"I'm here now, relax", he kissed my forehead then walked away with our crying infant.

I laid back into the couch, allowing my eyes to close, all I wanted to do was drift off into sleep.

Cai's crying starts to die down a little bit, however, I was too tired to get up and check on them.

They came back out in silence, I open my eyes to look and Cai is half asleep on his father's shoulder.

All he wanted was his father, all this time.

This child not only took everything from that man, but he also needs him around 24/7?.

I carried him for nine whole nights, does that not count?.

"The kitchen is spotless, you still haven't eaten?" Dre asks me.

"No, it's fine though, do you want something?".

He chuckles, "you can't be serious, you've been home this entire time without eating anything but you're ready to cook me something?".

"Yeah".
