Here we go

___

I died

I died when everything fell apart

Alone, I sat in the dark. Waiting for the Enforcers to come take me just like I told them to. Ready to end this once and for all

I had said my goodbyes. To Powder, to you. The rest would have to forgive me and carry on

Or... that's what I thought before the door opened

Instead of Enforcers, it was Vander and Benzo, somehow aware of my plan. Vander's words that night changed everything for me

"You've got a good heart. Don't ever lose it. No matter how the world tries to break you. Protect the family"

But there was a hidden intention in those words, and by the time I realized it, he locked me in the basement. It was then that I became aware of what he was here to do

My heart screamed at the idea of him being taken away instead, but despite all my pleas, all my screaming, he wouldn't let me out

That could've been the end, that SHOULD have been the end

But it wasn't

Chaos ensued outside, as evidenced by cries and shots fired. I looked out the only window I had, but I was met with a blood splatter and a bloodcurdling scream

I gasped with eyes wide open, sadness and grief had been replaced by horror and powerlessness

Through stained glass and blurred silhouettes, I could only watch as something monstrous tore Benzo apart, and when this creature laid eyes on Vander, I froze

"No..." I muttered, but my dread only grew stronger when it punched my father to the ground. No matter how many times I hit the wall or screamed, there was nothing I could do

Nothing but watch

It was then that I...broke

The pain had become too much. Under a now blood-red light, I slid down to my knees and held my face as I let it all out, muffled cries that only I would hear

I had the best intentions in mind. How...how could it turn out so badly?

___

I died

I died when I was forced to leave your side

Like many before her, the Enforcer who dragged me back warned me of the dangers your home posed to us

She spoke the very same warnings I used to preach when I lost my father. Only now...I found them empty words

Under her watchful eye, we returned to the city, to a familiar household, yet not my own. It was then that she delivered something for me, something written at the very last minute

"Something came up. Please spend the night with the Kirammans. I'll see you tomorrow morning. I love you"

Despite her absence, my mother still tried to ensure my safety. Something I found endearing, and at the same time, heartwrenching, especially taking into account her words
