The conflicting vibes were hard to miss, especially for me being right in the middle of it. So "lucky".
It was clear they're still not over the situation.
Kelce still seemed hesitant about letting me join even know he had just said he didn't care and the blame will just be on Rafe.
While Rafe, on the other hand, didn't care as long as I stay close to him.
He knew it was either him or he would need to lock me inside his room again, and that's not an option, now.
As the tension thickened, the air crackling with unspoken words, and I found myself waiting for the next move.
My eyes roamed the room, its calmer contrast to the garden party outside, but despite the quieter setting, the space was still alive with activity.
Some guests ascended the stairs, doing who knows what, while others gravitated towards the kitchen, the pool table, or the big expensive couch.
Amidst the mingling crowd engaged in conversations, embraces, and drinks, my focus shifted back to Rafe.
A sudden jolt coursed through me as I realized his gaze was already fixed on mine.
Rafe's penetrating stare met mine, a silent challenge echoing in his eyes. In a suspended moment of anticipation, Rafe has made up his mind,
-He made his move.
Rafe pushed himself off the wall, his muscles taut with resolve, causing a prominent vein to surface on his arm.
He regained his balance, before he proceeded to walk towards me, keeping his hand in his pocket.
I couldn't see him getting any closer because, all of a sudden, my focus began to drift downward. It felt as if my head was too heavy for my own body.
That's when I noticed his polished black shoes gleaming in the subdued light of the party.
As I raised my gaze back to meet his, he stood before me, his demeanor slightly uncertain, almost as if he was silently asking for assistance, unsure of his own thoughts.
Rafe reached out as if to take my wrist, but then abruptly stopped himself, and instead grabbed my hand firmly, a silent acknowledgment that we were not in private.
He then lead me towards the stairs to the basement with a commanding presence that left no room for doubt.
As I'm half pulled, half lead down the poorly lit staircase, the walls seemed to close in on us.
It kinda creating an unexpected sense of claustrophobia that made each step feel a little heavier than it should normally.
I could feel my heart raced in my chest with each step, especially with Kelce's silent but ever-present footsteps echoing behind us.
With every step down, a doubt crept into my mind, questioning the true intentions. Could all this just be a ploy, a trap waiting to snap shut around me?
The stories of girls falling prey to such manipulation start to play on a loop in my mind, casting long shadows of doubt over the entire situation.
In an instant, everything could quickly get out of control, leaving me vulnerable and exposed.
I don't know where I stand with Rafe, like I have absolutely no trust in him, but I sense a different energy from Kelce, despite his association with Rafe.
Unlike Rafe's insistence, Kelce refrained from pressuring me to come along, he was actually the one to questing Rafe.
Like, if i wasn't supposed to be there than there no reason to make a trap, right? I try to keep my head cold.
