Lucas' POV

We spent hours last night going over the whole Bryson of it all. We even came up with a mischievous revenge plot which involved tying a half naked Bryson to the school statue and writing 'I am an asshole' on his forehead with a sharpie.

Everything after that was a blur.

The next thing I know, I wake up the next morning with a throbbing headache and an overwhelming urge to throw up last night's alcohol.

Ugh.

After throwing up into the toilet, I head over to the vanity and proceeded to wash my mouth out with an excessive amount of mouth wash. That's when I looked up at the mirror and noticed that I was wearing makeup on my face, and not just a light touch. My lips were a deep shade of red, and my eyelashes were heavy with mascara. Then there was the eyeshadow and eyeliner. The eyeliner was awfully wonky, which made sense given how drunk we were last night. The eyeshadow, on the other hand looked pretty. Eh, who am I kidding. I looked like a clown.

Even my nails were painted a shade of glittering blue, saved for the left index finger, which appeared to have been scratched off.

What the hell happened last night? I thought as I racked my brain for last night's missing memories. I proceeded to grab a hand towel and rinse it with warm water so that I could clean my face. Afterwards, I headed downstairs for aspirin, because my head was killing me. Seriously, It felt like my brain was trying to expand.

When I get downstairs, I find my mom dancing around the kitchen, headphones on as she quietly sang along to whatever song was playing. It takes her a moment to realise that I had entered the kitchen, to which she beamed excitedly as she pulled off her headphones. "Oh my goodness, there's the birthday boy!"

Is she kidding me?

"My birthday was yesterday." I said, matter-of-fact. I walk over to the cabinet where the aspirin was and decided to take two with a tall glass of water.

"I know, I'm sorry I missed it. My flight got delayed due to a storm." She embraced me in a hug. "But today, I am going to make it up to you."

By getting me a Time Machine so I can go back to yesterday and prevent this hangover?

Pshhh.

As if.

If I had a Time Machine, I would obviously go back to the time when dinosaurs were roaming the earth.

"How's that?" I wondered with feigned excitement.

"I thought that we could do something nice. Just the two of us. Whatever you want to do, nothing is off the table." She says.

"Mom, I am too exhausted. I kind of just wanted to stay in." I said to her.

"So let's do something here." She suggested.

"No thanks." I looked in the fridge for something, anything to eat. I hear greasy food helps with hangovers.

"So did you and Tori finally get together after all these years?" Mom wondered, causing me to nearly snap my neck in her direction.

"What are you on about?" I was confused.

"I saw her leaving just as I arrived this morning." She said. "Seemed like she spent the night... I just figured maybe you two... you know?"

"She's my best friend, mom. Nothing happened." I stated. "Besides, I'm gay."

I can't believe I just blurted that out.

"You are?" Mom said with surprise. I guess that made sense. From an objective point of view, I didn't seem gay, not really. Maybe if my mom was around more, she would have had some kind of observation about my sexuality, but, of course, she didn't really know anything about me.
