It was a cold morning in Hell. The sun was coming up over the Hazbin Hotel.
Husk was out for a work meeting at one of the casinos on the other side of Hell, the lust ring. As he navigated through the bustling streets, through the backways through Ozzie's, to the casino where he needed to be, his mind was preoccupied with his love, Angel Dust, but he was unaware of the events unfolding back at the Hotel.
Upon his return back to the hotel, Husk sensed an unusual heaviness in the air.
Charlie's expression was upset, her eyes kind of teary. "Husk.. there's something you need to know.." She began, her voice steady but laced with emotion as she pulled him over to sit down on the couch by his claws.
Husk settled down, and noticed Angel didn't run in and give him hugs or kisses. "Where's Angel?" he asked, voice shaking.
He was scared, the once chaotic, rude mouthed spider was nowhere to be seen.
Charlie grabbed her friend's hand, "He... He got redeemed by Heaven.." She said, her voice wobbling. She was about to cry.
Husk's eyes widened as he processed the news, his usual grumpy demeanour giving way to a mix of shock and sorrow. "Angel... redeemed?" he managed to choke out, holding back tears.
Husk's grip on Charlie's hand tightened as he struggled to comprehend the words. "He... redeemed?" he repeated, his voice cracking. He couldn't believe it. Angel, the one being he loved and cared for most in this despicable place, was gone.
Charlie nodded, tears streaming down her face now. "Yes, Husk. He got taken away by those angels this morning. They came and took him back to Heaven."
Husk's mind was reeling. He couldn't fathom a life without Angel Dust by his side. He thought about all the times they'd laughed together, the kisses they shared as well as the sweet but sometimes rough love making.
The thought of never seeing his love again was almost too much to bear.
As Charlie continued to sob, Husk wrapped his arms around her, holding her close as he tried to process the news. He felt like he was going to collapse under the weight of his grief.
"What's going to happen to him?" Husk asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Charlie sniffled and wiped her nose on her sleeve. "I don't know, Husk. I've never seen anything like this before. I've heard rumours that once someone is redeemed, they're never allowed back in Hell."
Husk's grip on Charlie tightened even more. He felt like he was losing his best friend, his partner in crime, and the love of his life all at once.
Just then, Alastor sauntered into the room, a mischievous glint in his eye. "Ah, Husk, my dear. I see you're having a bit of a crisis."
Husk glared at him. "What do you know about this?" he demanded.
Alastor shrugged. "Not much, but I heard some rumours floating around about the Head Seraphim and Lute earlier today. Apparently, they came for someone special."
Husk's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean 'someone special'?"
Alastor's grin grew wider. "Why, I mean your beloved Angel Dust, of course! Sera and Lute have taken him back to Heaven for... redemption."
Husk's rage boiled over, and he lunged at Alastor, his claws snapping wildly. "You're just enjoying this, aren't you?" Husk snarled.
Charlie intervened, pulling Husk back into the couch. "Husk, stop! Alastor didn't mean it!"
Husk panted heavily, his anger slowly subsiding as he realised Charlie was right. Alastor wasn't intentionally trying to hurt him.
But as he looked at Alastor, he saw something in his eyes that gave him pause. It was a glimmer of understanding, a hint of empathy that Husk hadn't seen before.
