AUTHOR'S POV

THE UNEXPECTED KISS

The day had been long and exhausting, filled with meetings, family obligations, and endless errands. Soo-hyun and Ji-won found themselves retreating to Ji-won's cozy apartment, seeking solace in each other's company after a particularly hectic day.

As they settled onto the couch, Ji-won let out a sigh, leaning her head against the backrest. "I can't believe how busy today was. I feel like I've been running around non-stop."

Soo-hyun nodded sympathetically, his expression mirroring her exhaustion. "Tell me about it. I don't think I've had a moment to breathe all day."

They sat in companionable silence for a moment, the only sound of the gentle hum of the air conditioning. Ji-won glanced at Soo-hyun, noticing the lines of tension etched into his forehead.

"You look stressed," she observed, reaching out to gently brush her fingers against his cheek. "Is everything okay?"

Soo-hyun leaned into her touch, his eyes closing briefly at the soothing sensation. "Yeah, just a lot on my mind, I guess. Sometimes, it feels like the weight of the world is on my shoulders."

Ji-won's heart went out to him, her own worries momentarily forgotten as she focused on comforting him. "You don't have to carry that weight alone, Soo-hyun. You have me, remember?"

Soo-hyun opened his eyes, meeting Ji-won's gaze with a mixture of gratitude and vulnerability. "I know, Ji-won. And I'm grateful for that every day."

Without thinking, Ji-won leaned forward, pressing her lips gently against Soo-hyun's in a tender kiss. It was a simple gesture, born out of a desire to offer comfort and reassurance, but it carried a weight of significance that neither of them could ignore.

For a moment, time seemed to stand still as they shared the intimate embrace, the world falling away around them. In that fleeting moment, all their worries and responsibilities melted away, leaving only the warmth of their connection.

When they finally pulled apart, they were both breathless, their hearts pounding in their chests. Ji-won's cheeks flushed with embarrassment as she realized what she had done, but when she looked into Soo-hyun's eyes, she saw only tenderness and understanding.

"That was unexpected," Soo-hyun said softly, his voice barely above a whisper.

Ji-won nodded, her own voice barely a whisper. "I'm sorry, I don't know what came over me."

Soo-hyun reached out, gently tucking a stray strand of hair behind Ji-won's ear. "Don't apologize, Ji-won. That kiss... it meant a lot to me."

Ji-won's heart fluttered at his words, a warmth spreading through her chest. "It did?"

Soo-hyun nodded, his gaze intense. "More than you know. It reminded me that no matter how hectic life gets, we always have each other. And that's what matters most."

Ji-won felt tears prick at her eyes, overwhelmed by the depth of emotion in Soo-hyun's words. She reached out, taking his hand in hers, squeezing it gently.

"I'm here for you, Soo-hyun," she said softly. "Always."

They sat together in silence, the weight of their shared moment hanging in the air. But instead of feeling awkward or uncomfortable, they felt a sense of peace and connection, knowing that they had reached a new level of intimacy in their relationship.

As they sat together, bathed in the soft glow of the lamp beside them, Ji-won couldn't help but feel grateful for the unexpected turn of events. In that moment, she knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, as long as they had each other, they could face anything together.
