Third person's POV
Bill was having a normal day, working at Gringott. Organising documents and studying and practicing rune carving. Overall, a very ordinary day. It wasn't until Ironwood came into his table with a chance to be an official rune master, early.
"What is it?" Bill asked excitedly. He was given an apprenticeship in his 5th year. Having his talent recognised by professor Flitwick, he became an apprentice to Ironwood. His family is very proud of him, except for his mother and younger siblings. Molly wanted him to work in the ministry while Ron and Ginny thinks that he's wasting his life working there.
Nevertheless, they had a huge party over it and he has been working hard for his career ever since. "A very important client of ours wishes to fix and renew the wards of their home. This order is very important and very confidential. You will have to sign a secrecy contract about the location and whatever you see in there. Not to mention, you will be faced with very, very ancient runes and traps that are left in the home. One mistake can cost you your life. Are you up for it?" Ironwood warned him of the offer.
Bill thought about it for a second. Bill had accompanied Ironwood in many places before. Some being dangerous and difficult to solved, having to have backup around to solve the issue. This could be dangerous but I'm not a Weasley without some danger in your life.
"I'll do it."
Ironwood, knowing that he would accept the challenge, hands him the contract and a blood quill. Bill made sure to read through it before signing. Working with goblins has made him weary of any goblin contracts that use a blood quill, even without the quill too. "We will be setting off in 10 minutes. Pack everything you'll need and meet me in my office in 5 minutes." Bill quickly packed all of his essential items. Rune carving kits, med kits, potions and snacks incase he gets hungry.
He marches into Ironwood's office. There were 5 other rune apprentices in there. Ironwood was holding the Portkey. All of them hold hands and they apparate to the location. They landed at the edge of the forest. "Ladies and gentlemen, this is where we'll be fixing the wards." Ironwood points behind them and the first thing that blurts out of their mouths is, "bloody hell, it's a castle?!"
Behind them is an ancient castle, the Pendragon castle. A bridge made out of stone divides the forest and the castle grounds for people and carriages to come in. Two giant golems guarded the gate as they walked across the bridge, above a roaring river.
The golems pointed their spears at us, ready to attack as we got closer. It wasn't until Ironwood pulled out some type of letter that they stood down and became dormant again. As we walked through the gate, a very well-dressed female house elf pops out and greets us. "Welcome to Pendragon's castle. My name is Daisy. May I ask the reason of your visit?"
Ironwood handed her the letter and she reads it through. Meanwhile, the others are just dealing out over the massive castle standing in front of them. Bill, on the other hand, felt nervous. He'll be meeting the queen tomorrow and right now, he's here already.
Daisy nodded at Ironwood's confirmation letter. "I've heard about the appointment for today. We are still cleaning up the castle for the arrival of Her Royal Majesty and His Royal Highness. As such, I'll be taking you straight to the Wards to ensure that you don't wander around and make a mess." She opened the entrance and let them in.
Many house elves were scurrying around. Dusting, cleaning and polishing every nook and cranny of every room as they passed through the halls, into the secret wards. Each corridor they walked in was filled with valuables and delicate artifacts and paintings of many historical timelines for the magical world. "Look, there's a picture of the founder's." Somebody pointed out to the paintings as they passed by. The floor was carpeted fully and the hallway is shining so brightly, it didn't look at all abandoned for a long time.
Finally, after 20 grueling minutes, they made it to the main wards room. 4 giant gems are acting as the main connectors for the wards. Daisy tells them that she'll be back when we finish before popping out of the room.
That's when we were able to breathe a sigh of relief. "Sir, you're telling us that we'll be handling the Royal Pendragon family wards just now?" One of the rune apprentices, Adam sarcasticly says to Ironwood. "What did you expect? Sometimes, I am unable to say anything until we are there. Now, you will all be handling the gem wards. I'll be keeping an eye and help out when needed. The rest is up to you."
Ironwood hands them the list of things needed to be fixed and added into the gem wards. They got to work after making a review and plan on how to do it. It took half an hour as all six of them worked together wonderfully. Ironwood only had to intervene once and the rest was done by the team.
Daisy comes in soon after with refreshments, tea and biscuits. They rest up a bit before apparating back to the bank. "Great work. Tomorrow, you'll be a full-time rune master. You're training is over. You may clock out early today." The others cheered with excitement but Bill was still in shock over the castle.
one things for sure, we are going to need new clothes for the tea party tomorrow......
