REALIZING THAT TODAY WAS VASCO'S birthday, Seoahn felt a pang of panic as it dawned on her that she still didn't have a present for him. However, recalling that she had bought him during the school festival, she hastily reached out to the boy to discuss their date.
Normally, it should have been the other way around but Seoahn shrugged off such conventions, unbothered by the traditional roles.
After getting ready, she went downstairs to inform her uncle first. Her uncle took the opportunity to tease her while also making sure that his niece was appropriately dressed for the cold Korean weather. "Are you taking your pixie bike?" he inquired, a smirk playing on his lips.
The mention of Lily made Seoahn's expression turn somber, a shadow falling over her face. "I'll punch you," she warned. Her uncle chuckled, "Punching a senior citizen? You could get report to the authorities."
Seoahn shot back with a grin, "Oh, so you do admit yourself as a senior citizen?"
“Hey, I'm 42 not 89.” He pouted as Seoahn brushed off his comment. “You know, uncle, you really need to stop being so cocky and just live a peaceful life─”
“That's exactly what I'm doing right now but okay,” he quipped, shrugging off her concern as Seoahn glared at him.
“─Because if you don't, you'll end up like that shitty Beolgu. Such a shame he was born years ago; the bop would've loved him in my generation." she stated while shaking her head for emphasis. Her uncle looked at her flatly, unamused.
“That geezer thinks with his private part. He is the dumbest person on Earth,” Uncle scoffed while accompanying Seoahn to the front door.
"You know him like that?" she asked, now curious more than ever.
"Everyone in Gen 0 does." he replied curtly. As Seoahn was about to ask further, her uncle suddenly ruffled her hair ── a familiar gesture that always left her hair disheveled. She muttered under her breath, annoyed.
"Be safe," he said, a hint of concern in his voice. "And no boyfriends until you're 80."
Seoahn's eyes widened at the absurd restriction. "Until 80? Are you nuts?! I could end up as a loner like you!" she protested, making her uncle scowled.
“Oi at least I'm happy!” he protested, attempting to defend himself. "You know," he continued, his tone laced with nostalgia, "I used to reject a lot of girls in my day. One of them might have been the famous reporter from Gen 0." he chuckled heartily, relishing those memories from his golden years.
Seoahn couldn't help but roll her eyes at her uncle's boast. "Nurse, he's out again." she quipped, not taking him seriously. Her uncle retaliated with a playful bonk on her head, causing her to yelp in surprise.
