Frypan's P.O.V
He had left again. He had a tendency to do that. Run off when he's frustrated. He has a temper, and nobody really wants to deal with him.
I do. I'm fine with it. Even if for some reason he doesn't seem to believe so.
That's why I know exactly where he goes and nobody else does. It's hidden just enough to not be dangerous but still be close enough for me to see him from a few feet back.
"Hey,"I greeted, spotting him by the creek. Not saying anything, he just stayed still. With a sigh, I took a seat beside him, just staring at the moving water like he was and had been for who knows how long now. The same old routine as last time and the time before that and probably next time. The predictability about it is kind of nice though. For some reason, it lets me know what to say.
"How do you always find me?"
"I mean this is where you always come,"I pointed out.
"No, I mean how are you still coming after me? Aren't you tired of this?"He clarified.
"Come on. I'm a Cook. I've seen Greenies in my kitchen with a worse attitude than yours,"I assured him, slightly cringing at the memory of the last one.
"But theirs always goes away, doesn't it?"He mumbled.
"Sometimes, but just think about it. You're leaving because you're frustrated you keep getting talked over. They're grumbling and glaring at me for making them do stuff. See the difference there?"
Just shrugging, he kept his gaze on the water. Reaching his hand into the stream, he let it flow between his fingers, almost as if he was letting go of anger. As if the water was just his temporary rage that would pass through him. As if it was his negative emotions that would be able to clear up in a few seconds.
"Gally, look. I know this place gets on your nerves. The rule breakers and the wannabe rebels and the way you're stuck here. I know it bothers you, but at least you're here. You know?"
"This all sucks, Fry. Everything sucks all the time. It sucks here, and it would probably suck even more out there,"He sighed.
"Maybe, but right now you're in here. You're in here for who knows how long so all you can do is make the best of it,"I advised.
"No. I think you've got enough optimism for both of us,"He shrugged, not looking at me but not really hiding his half grin.
"You want some?"I joked back.
"Nah. You can keep it. I'll just let you keep doing that,"He said, glancing over at me with a less strained smile. I mean to be honest, it wasn't much for him being cheered up, but he's better than when I found out. And with Gally, I'll take what I can get.
