XVI. Extra surveillance.
The second I stepped through the front door of the Cullen house, Esme was bolting down the stairs and wrapping her arms around me, hugging me gently. A smile spread onto my lips, I nearly forgot I was angry. "Hi, Esme." I greeted.
"Hello, Ana." She greeted me in a sweet voice before pulling away and placing a soft kiss on my cheek. "It's so good to see you." she said, rubbing my arms with her cold hands before she pulled away from me.
"It's good to see you too." I told her as my smile grew a little before I turned around, looking at Alice who carried my packed bag. "I'm gonna go make a quick call." I told her as I turned to walk into the downstairs living room for privacy, not that such a thing existed in a vampire household.
"Eleanor knows where you are." She assured me as she gave me a small smile, her head slightly tilting to the side.
"I'm not calling her." I replied as I shook my head, taking a deep breath before I sighed softly. "Apparently I have plans to cancel." I muttered, tightly pursing my lips before I headed into the living room while pulling out my phone, and dialing a number. Jacob picked up on the second ring. "Hi, Jake." I greeted softly.
"Hey, Ana." Jacob's cheery voice greeted me on the other end of the line.
I sighed softly, glancing at Alice and Esme over my shoulder for a brief second. They were pretending not to listen as they busied themselves with chatting. "Look, don't be mad but I'm not gonna be able to come over tomorrow." I informed him as I scratched the side of my head.
"Stupid bloodsucker." Jacob grumbled under his breath and I could imagine the snarl that pulled on his lips. "Can't you have a life? Or does he lock you in a coffin?" He asked me in a snappy voice.
"Jake." I warned as I sat down at Edward's piano, running my hand over the smooth surface of it.
"Is he feeding there in Forks?" Jacob asked and my eyebrows furrowed. It was a strange question. The Cullen's didn't feed on humans so why did it matter where he fed?
"No, he's not in Forks." I replied as I shook my head, even if Jacob couldn't see me right now.
"Well, why can't you just sneak away again?" Jacob asked and I could hear the excitement in his voice. He really did like Rebel Ana a lot.
I pursed my lips and glanced over my shoulder. Alice was looking right at me. She had heard Jacob's question. I sighed and diverted my gaze away from her. "Because my last jailbreak has caused for some extra surveillance." I informed him. "I am to be under Alice's watchful eyes, at all times." I said ominously and I looked over my shoulder again, seeing Alice roll her eyes at me.
I could hear a low growl slip from Jacob's lips. "We'll come and get you." He muttered in a low voice. My eyebrows furrowed, realizing he thought Alice was a threat to me. The boy sounded like he was ready for war.
