Louis's POV
The rest of the day just flew by in a blur. I didn't pay attention during any of the lectures. In the afternoon, I dragged myself to the college football field, only because I had to be there today. It was the freshmen tryouts day.
There were about ten first-years lined up, although there were only three openings in the team. Coach Trevor was already explaining the expectations and the selection criteria by the time I reached the ground. Although Coach Trevor was no Coach Mason, he is one of the few people I didn't mind seeing on a daily basis. He was much younger than coach Mason, and was more like a friend than a coach. But he sure knew how to be stern when needed.
My vice-captain Noah was also standing next to him, nodding as if he were the inventor of Footie himself. He was the most pretentious twat I've come across lately; not more than the 'new' Harry of course. We barely got along. Me and Noah, I mean. Not just the Footie team, half the campus knew this. Just like how everyone knew what's keeping him in the team; the big fat cheque his father, an alumnus of the university, donates annually.
His father wanted him to be made captain of the football team. Apparently, that's what was promised to him when he started donating money to the university. But with skills as mediocre as Noah's, it would be obvious that he wasn't there because of his talent if he was made captain. He didn't deserve to be vice-captain even. Heck, he didn't even deserve a slot in the team. There were so many good players that we couldn't get in to the team, thanks to Mr. My-father-will-hear-about-this.
On top of everything, his attitude was just appalling. He carried himself as if he was the Danny Zuko of campus, a bunch of hooligans falling at his feet, fawning over him for his fame and money, boosting his already bloated ego. Every time I laid eyes on him, all I could think about was slapping the living daylights out of his perfectly structured face.
I went and stood on the other side of Coach, giving zero attention to Noah and his perfect Ken-doll presence.
After the self-introductions, the physical fitness assessments and the skill-drills commenced. All the lads were performing quite well, but one certain bloke caught my attention during the scrimmage. He was about an average height, toned, and had beautiful brown eyes. Eyes kinder than Zayn's, the kindest I've seen to be honest. But what stood out to me was that his hair looked so much similar to what Harry's hair looked like, two years back. Although this boy's hair was less curly, and much lighter in colour. He had the best technique out of all the players, which made him stand out even more.
The way he dribbled was as if he was moving on water. I looked at Coach and he raised his eyebrows at me. Looks like he will make it to the team then.
After the scrimmage, Coach asked Noah to take the newbies to the locker rooms to change. I knew he did that just because he didn't want Noah being part of the selection process. My team, who was practicing at the other side of the field, were now taking a break. I saw a few of Noah's "buddies" from the team follow him and the freshmen towards the locker rooms.
