I help Aria zip up her dress just as we get ready to go downstairs. We are having a small get together at our house for my siblings, her siblings, their husbands, wives, girlfriends, their kids as a little combined bachelor or bachelorette party since our wedding is coming up soon.
Aria is wearing a baby pink dress that has small white flowers all over it that goes all the way down to her feet. I am wearing that same light pink dress shirt that I wore on our first date.
I lean down to look in our shoe closet to get shoes for my Aria, "Which shoes do you want to wear, melodia?" I ask her.
"The black slippers, please?" she asks, looking at herself in the mirror and adjusting her dress. I grab the slippers she wants and walk over to where she is now seated on the bench on the other side of the closet. I get down far enough to place the slippers on her feet, then stand, grabbing her hand and picking her up with me.
I notice that her dress completely covers her shoes, "Did you only wear this dress so that you did not have to wear heels?" I ask her.
She has a smug little smile on her face, "Shh," she shushes me, a silly tone to her voice. Her finger presses against my lips, but I kiss it, then kiss her hand, then her arm, her wrist, her neck, her cheek, her lips.
I hold her to me, her head pressing against my chest. "I love you," I tell her.
"I love you, honey," she says, pressing a kiss to my covered chest, then leaning up to press one to my jawline on my scar.
There's a knock on the door to our room, then mamma's voice, "Hello?"
We pull apart and walk out of the room. Mamma immediately takes Aria away from me and starts talking to her as they head downstairs together.
I can't just keep her to myself for even one day and it's sad.
I follow after them, walking down the stairs to find everyone already here. Aria leads them to the backyard where we will be for tonight.
We had the maids set up some things in the outside living room like the drink cart, some games, a table with desserts, the heaters because it is still quite cold outside but it is beautiful so we thought it would be best to enjoy the view.
Once everyone is served their drink, Aless and Rafi start playing games, playing against Sofia and Aria. Allegra and Lia are talking together while Laura is next to Sofia leading her how to play the game they are playing because she doesn't know how to.
Mamma and I are sitting here talking and she is telling me how excited she is for Aria and I to get married.
"I knew she would be special as soon as Lia told me you were seeing someone. You had never shown interest in anyone before." She tells me, looking over at her then back at me.
"She is amazing, I love her," I say, looking at her as she is laughing with my siblings and my in laws, they are playing some game that I have no desire to even pay attention to.
She is so gorgeous and amazing and I can't believe I get to marry her soon. I'm in love with every single thing about her. Especially how she was able to completely steal my heart at a time in my life when I thought I could never find someone to love, or to love me.
People that know who I am are usually scared of me, even people who have never met me find me intimidating, but she didn't, if anything she gave me her snarky little attitude that was adorable.
She notices me staring and looks over, smiling and blows me a kiss.
I smile, standing up to make my way over to her. I smiled at her, resting my hand on her hip and kissing the top of her head.
I joined them in playing the game and just then, the sliding door that leads to the house opened, Lev, Anya, Inessa, and Luca walking out.
Aria gasped, smiling, running over to them. She hugged Luca and Inessa at the same time, hugging Anya after and simply greeting Lev.
Inessa and Luca get to talking to the rest of them, playing a game with Allegra and Lia as Lev and I begin speaking, Anya going with mamma.
"How's the son-in-law?" I ask him jokingly as in the beginning he was making every threat possible in order to protect his daughter.
He sighs, "He is a good kid, and I hate it," he says, making me laugh, "It is hard to dislike him when nothing he does is worthy of disliking, and I see how happy Ness is, so it is okay." he explains and I nod. "He tells me that Aria practically raised him, because even though he was their mothers favorite, she would still neglect even him, so she would always care for both him and his twin. It sounds like the three of them were very close."
Aria has told me the same thing. Her mom would have parties for them, birthday parties but she would never invite kids their age, only adults she could get drunk with.
But she would have Aria bake a cake because Aria knew how to bake. She would make her decorate them and make them look amazing, but none of them were allowed to have any, so Aria would always secretly make three cupcakes and sneak the twins into her room, bring them each a candle for their cupcakes and sing them happy birthday.
Laura has told me herself how grateful she is for Aria for everything she did to keep her safe and happy, but who was there for Aria at the time?
I am so glad I am here for her now, but it is horrible that no one was there for her when she needed someone most.
I nod at Lev, "She is just," I sigh, not being able to think of the correct term, "spectacular, caring, I have never met anyone as perfect as her." I say to him.
His naturally stone cold expression changed, "You are in love with her, kid. And trust me, in 20 years when you have a daughter and she is dating someone, I will beat your ass harder than karma did." he says, taking a sip of his whiskey.
I laugh, drinking my vodka. I don't drink whiskey ever since Aria said she does not like the taste of it when she kisses me. I am fine with Vodka, what I would not be okay with was not being able to kiss her.
"What is that?" I hear Lia asks as she points to the visible portion of the sunroom.
"Our sunroom, come on, I will show you," Aria says, inviting all the girls to go with her.
Even mamma and Anya go with her so she can show them the sunroom I had built for her. It is unbelievable how much she can appreciate such a small act.
It is as simple as listening to when she talks about the things she likes and making it all happen.
It is the same thing with her greenhouse, she has so many things growing in there and she takes amazing care of them.
Aless, Lev, Rafi, Luca, and I all continue speaking, waiting for the girls to come back.
It takes them half an hour but they eventually make their way back to us.•••••
