golden streetlights glimmer along a narrow road leading to the center of town. Christmas decorations twinkle in the windows of small cottages, roofs blanketed in snow.

"i still think we should've used Polyjuice Potion." Hermione says

"no. this is where i was born. I'm not returning as someone else." Harry says

we walk, arms linked. a pub door opens briefly and laughter and music spill forth.

"i think its Christmas Eve. listen..." i say

voices carry from the church ahead. Harry eyes the graveyard beyond. "do you think they'd be in there? my mum and dad?"

"yeah. i think they would." Hermione answers

the singing is full and rich as we make our way through the snow toward the graveyard. Harry peers up at the stained glass windows glittering over us.

i push through a gate, row upon row of snowy tombstones stretch before us. Harry heads off, i study him, then follow.

i pause by a large tombstone freckled with lichen.

"Harry." i say

"is it-" Harry begins

"no, but look" i interrupt

the tombstone reads 'Kendra Dumbledore and her daughter Ariana'. a quotation is etched in the granite: 'where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.'

"did you know he had a sister?" i ask Harry

"no." Harry says, turning away and walking off

i walk amid the stones, studying the names when Hermione stops abruptly at an extremely old one.

"Lumos" she whispers

Hermione plays the wands light over the surface of the stone, then stops. though deeply worn by time, the symbol is unmistakable: the triangular eye. Hermione rakes the light over the name: Ignotus Peverall

"Ignotus...hey Har-" Hermione begins

we both turn and see Harry standing several rows away. utterly still.

we walk over and stand by him. his parents tombstone reads:

James Potter

Born 27 March 1960

Died 31 October 1981

Lily Potter

Born 30 January 1960

Died 31 October 1981

"The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death."

tears are streaming down Harry's face. Hermione raises her wand and traces a circle in the air and a wreath of Christmas roses blossom in the snow. Harry nods staring at them

"Happy Christmas Hermione and Vanessa." he mumbles

"Happy Christmas Harry" we both say quietly
