A teenage girl begrudgingly made her way back to her foster home from the library. She didn't want to be there but the library closed and she knew the later she stayed out, the worst it would be, if she was unlucky enough that her foster father wasn't passed out drunk.
She took a breath and walked into the house. She immediately knew that something bad would happen. She saw empty bottles of alcohol everywhere and the air smelt like booze. And unfortunately for the girl, her foster father was wide awake and seething.
"Where have you been, girl?" the man, Burt Simmons, says angrily and completely drunk.
The girl, Kassidy, gulped knowing what was going to happen next. She knew there was no escaping it. "The library. I was studying for a test."
Burt chuckled darkly. He slowly approached Kassidy before he backhanded her. She falls on the ground with a cut on her cheek from his nails. "Don't be ridiculous, girl. Girls like you don't amount to anything." He spits out as he kicks her in the ribs. He then grabs her by her shirt and brings her up to his face. "All you're going to be good for is one thing. Your body." He says and then punches her multiple times in the face before stumbling into the kitchen for more alcohol.
Kassidy groaned as she stood and then she grabbed her school bag and rushed into her room. "I have to get out of here before he kills me." She mumbles to herself before she goes to grab her already packed duffle bag.
She rushes to the bathroom to clean off the wounds and takes the bottle of Tylenol and puts it in her backpack. She also grabs her secret stash of cash and pockets it. She puts her backpack on the back and her duffle bag on her shoulder before opening the window and climbing out. She runs as fast as she can away from the house. She doesn't slow down until she makes it to a bus depot. She buys a ticket and boards the next bus out of town, never looking back.

Two days later Kassidy was walking across the street in a crosswalk around 10 pm when a car came out of nowhere and rammed into her. She remembered the front of the car hitting her before she rolled over it as it kept accelerating. The last thing Kassidy remembered before losing consciousness was pain and knowing that she wasn't going to survive. 'At least I will finally have peace.' was her last thought.
The next thing she knows, Kassidy is awake and standing without a scratch on her. "I thought I died." She said looking down to see herself without any wounds. She then looks around and sees that she is in a blank area, surrounded by mist and fog. "Where the heck am I? How did I get here?" She asks herself out loud.
"I brought you here." Came an angelic voice from behind her, making Kassidy jump and turn around.
Kassidy saw a woman in a silver dress with flowers all over it and long white/silver hair with a flower crown. "Who are you? Where am I?"
The woman smiles and steps closer. Kassidy is looking at her with cautious eyes. "My name is Atira, my child. We are currently in a Mindspace I created."
"Why am I here?" Kassidy asks
"I've been watching your life Kassidy. I've seen how strong, selfless, and caring you have been even when everything was stacked against you. I want to help you."
"Help me? How? I'm pretty sure I died tonight. I was hit by a car."
"You did die in that life. I want to grant you a new one. I like your spirit. I like who you are. Very few people intrigue me like you do, so I know that you will use this gift to help others, more than yourself."
"So you want to give me a new life?"
"Precisely. You would be reborn into a new life. You wouldn't start your life over, you would keep your memories but also gain new ones to do with your new life. Your age would be the same."
"So I would basically get to continue my life in a new place?" Kassidy asked tilting her head.
"You will, my child. But things will be different."
"What things?"
"I go by many names, one being Mother Earth. If you accept this gift you would be an elemental. The only elemental. And you would have a soulmate."
"What's an elemental?"
"My children. They are given the same power as I have. You would be able to manipulate nature. You will also be able to cast spells."
"So like a witch?"
"Even more powerful....You are not limited by the spirits of the witches as witches are. You will be one of the most powerful people to ever exist and you will be immortal once you turn 18."
"So I would be an immortal elemental with a soulmate?"
"Yes." Atira replies. "If you accept, you will be an elemental. The only elemental. You will be immortal as soon as you turn 18 and you will have a soulmate. You will have the elemental marking behind your ear and your soulmate mark on the back of your shoulder. Your soulmate will have the same mark."
"Wow." Kassidy said in awe.
"Do you accept, my child?"
"I accept. Thank you, Atira." Kassidy said with a smile.
Atira used her hands to cup Kassidy's cheeks. "You're welcome, my child. I will be with you always." Atira kisses Kassidy's forehead and there is a bright light.
Kassidy wakes up in a bedroom she knows is her own. She stands and goes to her mirror, she sees pictures of her and a group of people and many pictures of her and Candice King, the girl that played Caroline in the Vampire Diaries. Her memories in her new life are telling her that the group of people are her friends and Candice King is her sister, Caroline.
Suddenly there is a knock on the door and Caroline comes in. "Hey Kassie. You better get ready, we are leaving for the Gilbert funeral in an hour."
"Alright, Care Bear. I'll be out in a bit." Kassidy responds and Caroline smiles and leaves.
"Oh my god. I'm in the Vampire Diaries." Kassidy says in shock.
