Nick sits at his desk, feet propped up with an almost burnt out cigarette dangling from his lips, staring at the ceiling waiting on what's next. "Alright, Nick. What about this one?" I ask, carrying the case file over. Nick sits up and flips through the pages. "It's a missing little girl, Nick. We have to go." I can see the hesitancy written on his face. "Honey, there's nothing for us to go on. No leads, no solid evidence."

I look at him with pleading eyes. "Nick, you would do this for me to find Shaun. Let's just go see what we can find." I practically beg the synth sitting in front of me. "Alright, fine. But grab your coat and some RadAway. We won't have a repeat of last time." Nick jokes with me.

I give him a slight grin before heading to my desk to grab the essentials for our departure into the Commonwealth. "Thank you, Nick." I mutter. "The things I do for you, Honey." I grin at the sweet nickname he's given me.

Nick acts like such a hard ass, but I see something different to him. Yeah he's a synth with a cold, metallic exterior, but he's so warm. He's caring and empathetic, and never backs down from a fight. He cares so deeply about the cases we work, and his passion is truly admirable. I'll never let him know I think about him this way, though.

We reach the last known location of our missing girl and her abductors. "Alright, here's what I'm thinking," I say to Nick. ", I'll go inside and see if I can find anything. Maybe they left something behind. You stay out here and see if you pick up on anything." He looks at me and I can tell he doesn't agree with my plan. "You don't know what, or who, could be in there Honey. It's best we stick together." I can't deny that he may be right, but I know I can hold my own, and so does he.

"Nick, I'll be okay. I promise." I say to him with a reassuring smile. He gives me a nod as if to say, "go ahead." I slowly make my way inside of the building, my hand resting on the pistol I have on my hip. I walk though the hallways, checking everything that may be of importance. I make it to a terminal that unlocks a set of security doors, and as I begin to hack it, I can tell I'm not alone.

I push my feelings aside and proceed to hack the terminal, opening the doors in front of me. Before I know it, I'm faced with at least a dozen feral ghouls. "Wonderful. Just fucking wonderful." I say to myself as I grab my pistol and start taking them down.

After I've killed all of them and checked their bodies for any clues, I hear Nick's heavy footsteps behind me. "Honey! Are you okay? Are you hurt?" The synth is scanning me up and down to see if I've been injured. "I'm fine, Valentine. I told you I would be okay, didn't I?" He chuckles at my remark and begins searching for clues.

I hear something coming from down the hall, and motion Nick to get behind me as we go investigate the source of the sound. We creep closer and realize it's coming from behind a locked door. I quickly grab a bobby pin and begin making quick work of the lock. Nick swings the door open, and inside we find the missing little girl. "Hi sweetie, I'm Y/N and this is Nick. We're here to take you home." The little girl throws herself into my arm and cries.

After reuniting the girl with her parents, Nick and I head back to the office. "Hey, Ellie!" I chirp as I walk through the door. I set my bags down, and prepare to head home for the night. I see Nick walk behind me. "You did real good today, Honey. Real damn good." He says in my ear, barely above a whisper. With that, he walks away. "That was weird.." I think to myself before heading home to prepare for another day at Valentine's Detective Agency.
