Tw- self harm
As Kyra slowly peeled off her long sleeved shirt, Caitlin couldn't help but notice the multitude of scars that crisscrossed her skin, some old and faded, others fresh and raw. Her heart clenched at the sight, a mix of sadness and concern washing over her.
"Kyra..." Caitlin began, her voice gentle as she reached out to touch one of the scars.
Kyra flinched at the contact, quickly pulling away and covering herself with a fresh training top. She avoided Caitlin's gaze, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment.
"I'm sorry, Caitlin." Kyra mumbled her voice barely above a whisper. "I didn't mean for you to see."
Caitlin shook her head, her eyes filled with compassion. "It's okay, Kyra. You don't have to apologise. But... I want you to know that I'm here for you. Whatever you're going through, you don't have to have it alone."
Kyra's eyes brimmed with tears as she met Caitlin's gaze, a mixture of gratitude and fear reflected in her eyes. "Thank you, Caitlin. I... I'll tell you everything, I promise. Just not right now."
Caitlin nodded understanding, making a mental note to check in with Kyra later when they had some privacy. She wrapped her arm around Kyra's shoulders, offering a silent gesture of support as they made their way out to join the rest of the team on the training pitch.
As they jogged side by side, Caitlin couldn't shake the image of Kyra's scars from her mind. She knew that there was more to Kyra's story than she was letting on, and she was determined to uncover the truth. But for now, she would respect Kyra's boundaries and wait for the right moment to broach the subject.
In the meantime, Caitlin wanted to be there for Kyra in whatever way she could, offering a listening ear and a shoulder to lean on whenever she needed it. Because above all else, Caitlin wanted Kyra to know that she was loved, scars and all, and that she would always have someone to turn to in her time of need.
