Gabriel wasn't juiced enough to bring you back, Cas knew that.
But he also knew someone who was.
It's been three days since you died and Cas has been keeping you in the back of your jeep, driving around like a maniac. The phone in your pocket lights up constantly and it makes his heart wrench every time he notices. He's only talked to Dean a handful of times and he's had to make excuses for why you weren't talking to him. First, it was that you were distracted or busy, then it became you lost your phone and when Dean told Cas to give you his, he hung up on him. He threw his own phone into a lake he was driving by and never looked back.
He knew it was bothering Dean to no end, he was worried out of his mind, but Cas didn't have it in him to tell him you were dead.
He just couldn't do it.
He even refused to accept it himself.
This ended with him at the door to hell, facing a demon through the peephole.
He bargained his way in, some would say threatened, but it did get him walking down the seemingly endless steps.
Crowley met him at the bottom with a smirk in greeting. He knew what Cas wanted, but he figured it was for some random person or an angel he grew fond of. He never expected to hear that you died.
"And you think Lucifer will bring her back?"
"It's my only chance." He told him sadly and Crowley saw for the first time just how broken the angel in front of him really was.
"He won't do it for free." Crowley warned.
"I know."
"Alright then," Crowley nodded, "I'm assuming you invited my mother?"
"Present!" Rowena called, coming into the room and Crowley rolled his eyes, "Good to see you too, Fergus."
"Let's just get on with it." Crowley groaned and they went about summoning the cage as it lit up with holy fire surrounding it.
"Is he-" Cas cut himself off when he finally noticed a dark shadowy figure sitting in the corner.
"What do I owe this pleasure?" Lucifer sneered, getting up and walking to the side closest to the three, hanging onto the bars casually.
"He needs you to bring a human back to life." Crowley told him, gesturing to Cas.
"You're kidding!" He laughed.
"You've done it before." Cas reminded him.
"Yeah, for my son."
"Jack doesn't know she's dead yet," Cas swallowed thickly at the thought of having to tell him, before steeling himself, "And you're going to make it so he never has to."
"What's in it for me?"
"What do you want?" Cas asked back.
"I think you know, little brother," He smirked darkly, "Not like I can heal her from in here anyway."
"How desperate are you, Castiel?" Crowley asked lowly and Cas looked at him with weak eyes.
"Do I have another choice?"
"What about Michael?" Rowena blurted suddenly and then visibly shivered when Lucifer's eyes landed on her.
"Jack killed him." Cas told her.
"Not the one from that wretched world, the one here."
"Adam?" Cas thought out loud, "We haven't seen him in months."
