"Fuck." You breathed when you opened your eyes and realized your wrists were chained up and your toes were just barely grazing the floor.
"Morning." An angel greeted, coming out of the shadows, holding a blade.
"This reminds me of my time with Crowley," You sighed, and they looked at you funny, "King of hell? Yeah, he tortured me too, but obviously I got away."
"And you think that's what's going to happen here?" They laughed and it went straight to your nerves.
"No," You scoffed with a smile, "Of course, not. This is heaven for your father's sake!"
"Right, so-"
"So, obviously, you guys know what you're doing."
"I have some questions." He dragged the blade lightly down your neck until he reached the flannel and then he started popping its buttons, making you cringe internally.
"Ask away." You forced a smile and he eyed you suspiciously.
"We know Castiel went after his grace, but it's been moved since he heard of its location and we can't seem to locate him. Where would he go next?"
He was told it was in the records room, but the second place he'd go is the throne room.
"No clue." You gave a small shrug, not being able to do much in your position.
He cut down from your collarbone to your exposed sternum and you gritted your teeth, biting your tongue until it bled, but never giving him the satisfaction of a scream. You realized from being tortured many times that that's all the torturers really want.
Well, that, and answers of course.
Oh, and maybe revenge or whatever, but that depends on the situation.
"Tough girl, huh?"
You gathered the blood in your mouth and spat it out on his face when he got close enough.
That seemed to tip him over whatever angry edge he was on because it no longer seemed to matter if you talked or not. He quickly started slicing at your chest, arms, cheeks, getting plenty of screams from you, and finishing it off with a stab to the gut. During the slicing and dicing you were in excruciating pain, but when he thrusted the blade into your midsection, your eyes widened in surprise and you looked up at him in shock.
"Kiss. My. Ass." You slurred between gritted teeth as blood seeped from your mouth and spots clouded your vision.
He yanked the blade out of you, making you gasp for air as blood pooled around your toes. He then stabbed it into your thigh, earning a groan from you as you were already seeping into unconsciousness.
~Meanwhile~
Cas was storming through heaven in search of his grace. He checked the records room with no luck, so he was speedily making his way to the throne room. He knew the closer he got, the more angels there would be, so he took to ducking into people's heavens to keep out of sight before venturing out again. He soon made it to the throne room without anyone noticing, feeling his grace's pull, and just like he predicted, his grace was on display.
It's like they saw it as some kind of trophy or memento and that made Cas realize how much the angels here dislike him. He broke the case, swallowing it and he erupted in light, his wings showing behind him.
But he didn't waste any time, knowing you were in need of help, so he flew to where he left you and only found your blade. He knew it was one of yours because Sam asked him to get it engraved with your first initial and a 'W' for Winchester. It was the younger hunter's way of welcoming you into the family.
He scooped it up and pocketed it before pulling his own out, ready for anything.
After walking the practically empty halls for some time, he spotted an angel coming out of a room with a bloodied angel blade. He didn't need his angelic powers back online to know that it was you in there.
He swiftly approached his brother who was soon joined by another he recognized immediately.
"Gabriel?"
"Hey, little brother," He greeted with a playful smile, holding his arm in front of the other angel's chest to stop him from going after Cas, "I see you've got your grace back."
"I'm looking for Y/n." Cas told him, not wasting any time.
"Who's Y/n?" He asked, and then snapped his fingers in realization, making the other angel jump slightly at the action, "Please tell me it's not the dead girl."
"Where is she?" Cas demanded more harshly, looking between them.
The other angel gestured with his head to the door he came from.
"I wouldn't go in there, brother." Gabriel cringed, "I didn't know she was a friend of yours."
"Move." Cas grunted, keeping an angry stoic expression as they got out of his way and he went inside.
Gabriel followed behind him, keeping a distance, as he approached your body still hung up by the chains.
"I'm sorry, I came when they said there was an intruder, but she was already dead when I got here."
"Get her down," Cas demanded, "Now!"
"Okay." Gabriel breathed as he went closer, snapping his fingers so the chains disappeared, and your limp body fell into his arms as he effortlessly caught you.
Cas immediately went to you and placed his fingers on your forehead, channeling everything he had even if it killed him, to bring you back.
He opened his eyes, but you didn't open yours.
"I'm really sorry." Gabriel offered genuinely.
"Bring her back." Cas commanded.
"I can't."
Cas didn't respond.
He gently took your body from Gabriel and carefully carried you out of heaven. Nobody bothered trying to stop him this time. He was fully charged and, in a mood to kill anything that so much as looked at him wrong.
He refused to accept your death even as he settled you into the back of your jeep. Him trying to bring you back healed your physical wounds, but you were already gone.
He started up the jeep and drove.
He didn't really know where he was headed, but he knew he would end up back at the bunker.
He had to.
He had to tell them, he knew he did, but telling them would just make it all real. He wasn't one to deny facts, he's an angel of the lord, but when it came to his family, the last thing he wanted was this.
And he knew it was his fault.
He asked you to go with him because he didn't want to worry the others and he knew you understood. You knew more about each of them than the others did, and you never judged them for anything. Sure, he didn't get all of your references or jokes, but he enjoyed your company and how you made everyone happy, especially Dean.
Dean.
He had to tell his best friend that he got his girlfriend killed.
They all knew Dean changed when you popped into his life on that hunt. After you both parted ways, he never stopped talking about you. Somehow in every conversation, no matter what the topic, it would circle back to you. He only went on one ghoul hunt with you at that point, but it didn't matter.
He knew how strongly Dean felt especially when Crowley took you. He cared about you and your safety before, there was no doubt, but he completely let himself be vulnerable after he helped you get away from the king of hell.
It didn't take being an angel or a best friend to see how in love Dean was with you.
And now you've been stripped from his life.
