The feeling of warmth radiates against my cheeks. Soft, cotton fabric caresses my skin as I cuddle closer to what I'm hugging as the morning sun peaks through my curtains. A nostalgic scent fills my nose and a soft smile forms on my mouth when old memories cross my mind. My thoughts slowly fade as I try to fall asleep again before the loud ringing of pots being clashed together scares me.
"Wake up! It's morning and we got a busy day, there's no time to sleep in," Grandfather shouts as he barges into my room. I raise my head in annoyance with furrowed brows to see the commotion. My grandfather holds two large, black pots with a faint scowl on his face. Grandmother stands in the doorway. Her hair is in curlers, a long nightgown barely reaching just above her ankles, and her hands placed on her hips as she sneers at the old man at the end of my bed.
I feel the blanket under me shuffle and whatever was in my arms slithers out. Looking down I see a disheveled brown mop of hair splayed out over my pillow, Hyunjin's eyes slowly open as the sun beams in his face. "I'm trying to sleep, why are you moving so much?" he groans, wrapping his arm over me and pulling me closer.
"I don't condone this!" the older man cries out, dramatically covering his eyes, "My precious grandbaby is too young for this act of sin."
Not only do I stiffen, but the arm around me does too. The sudden realization that our legs are tangled together doesn't go unnoticed. We unravel from one another and shoot up simultaneously, staring at each other with wide eyes. My body moves faster than my mind when I shove the boy off the bed and onto the floor. The lavender comforter wraps around him, spilling over the bed as his leg sticks up.
"Why are you sleeping in my bed," I shout, pulling my pillow in front of my body, "And why are you all over me?"
My grandma covers her mouth trying to hold back a snicker while staring at us. Grandfather lowers his pots and his jaw drops watching the chaos unfold.
Gasping, Hyunjin rubs the back of his head while sitting up, "You were the one who offered me to lay by you. Don't blame me when you were all snuggled up to me too." He whines while unwinding his leg from the blanket.
"You could have gone back to your spot any time. We even turned on Disney movies so you wouldn't have nightmares!" I defend.
"Hey! Don't call me out like that," he gasps, an embarrassed blush creeping onto his cheeks as he looks away.
"Alrighty kids, enough fighting," Grandma giggles, walking closer to her concerned husband who observes our long-forgotten bickering.
The chubby older man chuckles sheepishly as he rubs the back of his neck, "Glad to see some things haven't changed."
I glare at the married couple who walk out of the room, leaving us alone.
Hyunjin's long hair is tangled, his sweatshirt hanging loosely on him as he stands in front of my sitting figure. Even after just waking up, to such obnoxious events for that matter, he looks extremely handsome. I grimace mentally at the thought and watch as he takes a step closer.
"That was rude," he glares, arching over to where our faces meet eye to eye, "You looked so happy to cuddle me earlier. Why shove me away?"
"Was not!" I feel my cheeks burn red as he exposes me.
"Were too," he smirks, grabbing my hand to pull me to my feet. "Anyways, where'd you put your art stuff? Is it in the usual spot? Cause I got an idea for a piece." Turning around, he walks towards my desk.
"Hey wait," I call out hesitantly, stepping towards him in an attempt to push past, "I'll grab it for you."
My words go in one ear and out of the other as he bumps his hip to move me aside, "It's fine, I got it." His eyes widen as he opens the drawer. Warm-toned paper flowers string together in the front of the drawer.
