Faye
The kiss will not leave my mind.
His hands on my waist, the taste of him. His heartbeat under my fingers. It all stays with me. But most of all, I remember the way he made me feel. The way my stomach filled with butterflies and caused a cascade of lust to course through me.
It makes it difficult to sleep. Or pay attention in class. Or think.
By the time the game starts on Friday night, I'm ready to combust. My camera searches for Liam and I struggle to get good pictures of the other players.
It doesn't help that he, every so often, looks in my direction with a knowing smirk.
Once the game is over, I make sure to get a picture of the Lions celebrating so I can post it. I take some time to reply to comments as the guys head back to get changed and the Den slowly empties.
"Faye, I hope you're planning on posting about the victory." Coach is smiling happily.
"I already did. You're getting loads of congratulations."
"Good. We're one step closer to the Frozen Four."
"Looks like you'll have a great season this year."
"It really does. By the way, how did your talk with Liam go? Did you get things sorted?"
Well, fuck. How do I answer that without lying too much? "I think we'll be able to work something out."
"Just make sure he doesn't give you any trouble."
"I will."
"If any of them misbehave, you just tell me and I'll take care of it."
I nod. "They've all been very respectful."
"Good."
"But thank you."
He waves a hand at me. "I have a daughter a couple of years younger than you."
"Does she go to UNI?"
"Not yet. She's trying to decide if it's worth going to the same school her old man works at." He laughs. "I need to go meet the guys. You have a good evening."
"You too."
I watch him leave and wander the Den for a bit, soaking in the atmosphere of people still lingering. I should go home. If I was the good girl everyone seems to think I am, I'd go straight home and take a cold shower. I'd put Liam out of my mind and find another way to deal with him.
I keep telling myself I shouldn't, but my feet are already leading me towards the locker room.
The camera is an excellent excuse to greet the players as they emerge one by one, and I smile and make them pose for me.
Some of them do so happily, others look embarrassed. I post a picture of Ethan and include his stats for the game. With his smiling face, I'm sure the stats won't appear too boring.
Every time the door opens, my heart skips a beat. I do my best not to show my disappointment as the players come out, but for some obscure reason, it's there.
The door opens again, and I hold my breath.
Liam laughs at someone behind him as they both step out into the hallway.
He spots me and raises an eyebrow.
I want to sink through the floor. He knows why I'm here. My cheeks turn red and I pretend to look at my phone.
"Did you want to share your ideas?" Liam asks as he stops by me.
"See you later," Jonathan says and keeps on walking.
I swallow. "Yes, if you don't mind."
I keep looking around, wondering who might overhear us.
He tilts his head, and my eyes are glued to the rapid pulse on his throat. Is it too fast? Probably from the game.
"Say it."
My eyes flicker to his.
"What?"
"Say it, Faye. I need the words."
I'm drowning in his dark brown eyes. The hallway is empty, but I still take a step closer so I can lower my voice.
"I want you to make me come."
Sparks fly between us and time stops. Neither of us is breathing.
The door to the locker room opens and Liam coughs and takes a step back.
"Hey, good game," Dustin says and punches Liam in the shoulder as he passes by.
We wait until we're alone again.
"My place?" Liam asks.
I shake my head. "No. You live with how many other players? If any of them find out, I'll be fired."
"Right. So where?"
I swallow hard. This is it. I should not be doing this. I should tell him I was joking and leave. If I go through with this, I'm putting my career at stake.
But I want this. Whatever he is doing to me, I need more.
"My place." I grab my phone and unlock it. "Here, give me your number."
He grabs the phone, and I wait nervously.
"You have your own place?"
"I live with my cousin. She won't tell anyone."
He hands my phone back and raises an eyebrow. "You've told her about me?"
My cheeks flush. "If anyone asks, we're working on your reputation. That's it."
He nods and I text him the address.
"In about an hour?" I'm desperately trying to remember what state my room is in and if I need to shave my legs.
"I'll see you soon," he says and saunters off down the hallway.
Fuck, he looks good. I ogle him for a bit before I shake it off and head in the opposite direction.
