LILITH

I sat quietly on the leather seat of his car.

The stars were hidden behind the big clouds but the city was light up like the milkey way. The tall buildings were sparkling from every angle and the streets were filled with people.

I intertwined my fingers and felt the sweat form on my palms. I didn't know where Lucian lived. I have never been to his house or heard Sloane talk about his home.

Sebastian and I lived with his parents but Lucian was only visiting us from time to time. I never even asked why Sebastian didn't move away. Probably Sloane and Frederic wanted at least one of their sons to live with them.

My whole life I lived here in this busy city and my eyebrows furrowed when we drove out of it. The roads became empty and my thoughts were bombarded with all kinds of questions.

I would have never imagined Lucian to live in a more secluded area.

He seemed like the type to live in a penthouse in one of the skyscrapers.

I leaned my head on the window and closed my eyes for the shortest few seconds.

My parents didn't call. I texted mom but she never replied. Sloane said that they know and they agreed but I wanted to be sure. I haven't heard from them in a while.

My brother William didn't have the greatest relationship with me. We were always distant so I didn't even bother to contact him.

He moved away before I got married. Even before that he wasn't really fond of me. I think he probably wanted to have a little brother but then I arrived.

I ran my palms over my arms in hopes of getting warmer. Even though the winter was over the weather was still chill.

"How long until we arrive at your house?" I asked and rubbed my palms over my arms yet again.

Lucian had his right hand on the wheel while the other one was resting on the door by the window. His suit jacket was off and he was felt in his black shirt.

He didn't bother wearing any other colour today. He stuck to his usual attire.

The wedding ceremony ended quickly. We answered the question and then signed our names on the paper. This time there was no one to clap and cheer. Just a suffocating silence in the living room.

We exchanged the rings and I was surprised that he got me a gold one which I preferred rather to the silver one I had previously.

The officiant left and it was soon time for me and Lucian to leave as well.

Thankfully I didn't have to kiss him or hug him. I didn't even get close to him.

"In about fifteen minutes." He answered and didn't tare his eyes away from the road for a second.

Good, I didn't like reckless drivers. Like it was not enough that Sebastian almost got us in a car crash when he drank a little too much and persisted that he was going to drive and not his personal driver.

It has been a month since he died but it felt like yesterday.

I sensed a movement by Lucian and I rotated my head to him.

He pressed on one of the buttons by the radio and I immediately felt warm air blow through the car. My eyebrows furrowed at the action.

Okay...

I folded my arms in front of me and waited for us to arrive.

The fifteen minutes went by quick because Lucian stopped the car in front of a set of tall gates. He took a small remote in his hand and pressed on a button. The doors immediately started to open.
