Chapter 2
As I stepped out of the club I was caught in the breeze of the night. I walked quickly to the car, Aiden just trailing behind me. I opened the car door and sat down, happy to be out of the cold. As Aiden began to drive I turned on the radio and Adele ‘Someone like you’ was on. I closed my eyes and started to sing taking in the words.
Hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited,
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it,
I had hoped you'd see my face,
And that you'd be reminded that for me it isn't over,
Never mind, I'll find someone like you,I wish nothing but the best for you, too,
Don't forget me, I beg,
I remember you said,
"Sometimes it lasts in love,
But sometimes it hurts instead,"
Sometimes it lasts in love,
But sometimes it hurts instead, yeah.
When the song was over I turned down the radio and leaned back in my seat.
“You have an amazing voice. You don’t sing often,” Aiden said glancing down at me.
“Thanks, I don’t really like singing in front of people,” I said looking out the window.
“Why not?” He asked looking at me.
“Eyes on the road,” I ordered and he turned his head. “It’s something me and my mum used to do all the time before she...” I trailed off letting the silence do the talking.
“I understand, you don’t have to talk about it,” Aiden said taking my hand, giving it a squeeze.
“Thanks,” I whispered, grateful for not having to continue.
“You know that’s one of the great things about me, I’m so considerate-the perfect boyfriend,” Aiden said smirking. Lighten in the mood.
“Way to kill the moment Aid,” I said trying to hide my laughter but failing.
“And I’m funny, generous so you can tick that off the list as well,” I rolled my eyes. The rest of the journey went smoothly with Aiden joking around and me failing miserly to not laugh. We came to a stop and I got out of the car. Aiden put his coat around my shoulders leading me to my apartment. I opened my door and turned around to face Aiden.
“Do you want to come in for a coffee,” I asked.
“Yeah,” he replied seeming a little tense. We walked through the apartment to the kitchen and I got the coffee ready whilst talking to Aiden. He always seemed to make me happy but it’s a shame I don’t do the same for him.
I sat down beside him talking about the good old days.
“You’re still as beautiful as before,” he said cupping my cheek in his hand. We gazed into each other’s eyes. He started to move forward as I did. My full soft lips touched his and fireworks were set off. God I'm kissing Aiden! I started to feel his hands roaming my body, going up my inner thigh. We began to move together as the kiss deepened and I felt his tongue asking me for an entrance and then I snapped into reality. I pulled back taking a minute to catch my breath.
“I think you should leave,” I mumbled, whirling my head towards the door. He grabbed my chin making me face him.
“Why?" he asked. "I thought you liked me and that kiss was amazing so why are you rejecting me?” He began to lean into me but I pushed him back this time.
“You’re right, I did like you but you rejected me so I got over it, the same way you’ll get over me. Let’s not ruin our friendship isn’t that what you said? Well take your own advice.” I began to get angry “I said it once and I’ll say it again, I think you better leave!” How dare he say I was rejecting him when it was really him who rejected me? I heard the door slam and out I let out a deep breath. He would get over it. I finished my coffee whilst listening to the radio. All I wanted to do was sleep but my first day at work was tomorrow. I laid out my clothes, accessories and shoes so I was prepared.
I took a shower, brushed my teeth and changed into my nightgown. I smoothly slid under the covers of my queen sized bed. Chris wasn’t here so he was probably somewhere getting laid. Lucky him. I started to regret what I said to Aiden. I didn’t make the wrong choice, that I know for sure, but it would have been nice to have a boyfriend especially with the barbecue coming up. Oh well I’ll find someone-hopefully. Well that's if I’m not tied down with work. I'm not really scared but a bit nervous. I hope I made a good first impression and I do everything correctly.
I finally got what I wanted after years of dreaming and hard work. I hope I made my parents proud. I set my alarm for 5:00, then closed my eyes and drifted into a deep sleep.
