Chapter 2 - New Platoon

Start from the beginning

"As you will see Captain, M Platoon is unlike any other platoon under my command. The group consists of fifteen particularly talented individuals, unfortunately these individuals have proved difficult to control, and don't work well with others. The powers that be, insisted on putting a Captain Drake in charge, but the men didn't seem to like the fact that the captain was "normal" shall we say, he didn't possess skills such as yours. You, on the other hand Captain, were made for this job; so welcome to your new command, Captain (Y/l/n)." The General declared, as he reached for a cigar from a box on top of the desk.

"And if I refuse?" (Y/n) asked, as she picked up the file from the desk.

"I don't believe that you will, Captain. I have never put a female in the stockade before, but there is a first time for everything." The General told her, sending a great plume of smoke out in her direction.

Sighing, (Y/n) rose to her feet, and with folder in hand, saluting before making her way to the door.

"Oh, and one more thing, Captain. May I suggest that you take an alternate form; these men will all deal better with a male authority figure, so from now on you will be Captain John Black, your new dog tags have been provided in the file. Your new men know that you are coming, but your particular talents have not been divulged, I will leave it to your discretion to decide whether or not you tell your men about what you can do. Your job is to get these men in line and lead them. A car will come and pick you up in the morning. That's all Captain, you're dismissed." The General said, as the Corporal on the other side of the door opened it to allow her to exit.

"Are you sure that's she's right for the job? She looks like she's as big of a problem as the rest of them." The Colonel asked, as he finally appeared from the shadows of the corner.

"And that Colonel is why she is perfect, she will have those mutants kicked into touch in no time, they won't know what's hit them; I've seen what she can do with a group of men, trust me Colonel, M Platoon will be under control soon. And as soon as they are, their real job can begin." The General said, smirking to himself as he leaned back in his chair and put his boots up on the desk.

"Ok, (Y/n), spill the beans, what did the General want with you?" Justin Walker asked, as he rushed up behind her, trying to look at the file in her hand.

"He offered me a job that I couldn't refuse. (Y/n) told him, as she shut the file.

"Couldn't, or shouldn't?" Justin enquired, as the two Captains continued their way down one of the long halls in the stately home that the American army had taken control of as their headquarters when they had arrived in England.

"Both." (Y/n) simply stated, as she stopped suddenly, her eyes moving to look up at her old friend.

"Look (Y/n), I've known you since basic training, we've risen through the ranks together, and I'm the only one that knows about your skills; so, will you please tell me what's going on?" Justin asked, his Boston accent seeming stronger than ever, as he stood in front of her, his arms folded firmly across his chest. (Y/n) letting out a deep sigh, her shoulders slumping as she handed him the file.

"He's given me my own platoon, the only problem is that they seem to be the biggest pain in the ass in the whole damn battalion, and he wants me to kick them into touch. Even worse, I now have to become someone called Captain John Black for the foreseeable future cos this bunch of delinquents can't stand being ordered around by a woman; and just to put the icing on the cake, I either take the job, or I could be seeing out the rest of the war out, locked up in the stockade! So now you know." (Y/n) huffed, shaking her head, as Justin looked up from the file.

"When do you leave?" He asked, placing his hand on (Y/n)'s shoulder reassuringly.

"Tomorrow morning. So, do you want to help me go through this file and see what I have to work with, or are you just gonna stand in my way?" (Y/n) chuckled, as Justin happily offered her his arm and led her to her room.

                                                             >>------------------------------<<

(Y/n) and Justin sat in her room looking over the paperwork and pictures that were spread out across her bed.

"Well (Y/n), it looks like you have been given fifteen of the biggest reprobates that the American army has to offer; I'd say that there are only two that you could even think about relying on and that's this Lieutenant Benjamin Smith, and Platoon Sargent James Howlett, the rest are lucky that they haven't been locked up; and the worst, the very worst, is this Sargent Victor Creed. I'm confused about how he's even kept his rank, given his terrible disciplinary record." Justin told her, as he watched her dropped her head into her hands.

"This is impossible, Justin. I have to get this lot to work as a cohesive platoon, and then get them to play nice with everyone else. For god's sake, these guys were put through basic training away from everyone else, they eat separately, sleep separately, no wonder the General is having problems with them. Just because they are mutants it doesn't mean that they should be treated like they're lepers, and it's no wonder they don't trust anyone. I'm cursed Justin, cursed." (Y/n) groaned, falling back onto her mattress and staring up at the ceiling.

"I know you can do anything you put your mind to (Y/n), I've seen you work wonders with even the most difficult recruits, these guys are no different." Justin told her, chuckling as she placed a pillow over her head and screamed.

"That's all good for you to say, you're getting a real platoon, I'm getting everyone else's rejects! And I need to transform into the Captain Black, but I have no one to copy." (Y/n) said, finally taking her head out from under the pillow. Her brows furrowing as she watched as Justin dug around in his pocket and brought out an old photo of a young man and showed it to her.

"Here, this is a picture of my pops before he died in the last war; why don't ya use him? I mean, it's not like anyone will know him." Justin told her, as she looked at the picture.

"That's great Justin, but I need a voice, characteristics, it's easier to copy a live person." (Y/n) said, reminding him of the problems of just a photo.

"Well, why not use me? Look like my pops but take on my characteristics and everything; I mean you know me better than anyone, so I'd be the perfect candidate." Justin replied, nearly falling off the bed as (Y/n) instantly turned into an exact copy of him.

"It doesn't matter how many times I see you do that; it always freaks me out." Justin chuckled, as he handed her the picture of his father.

"Now, all you have to do is change your facial features to look like dad." Justin told her, as she slowly rose from the bed, and walked over to the mirror, her features changing as she took in every aspect of Justin's father.

"So, what do ya think? Meet Captain John Black." (Y/n) said, instantly laughing at her new deep Bostonian accent, Justin joining her as he looked her up and down.

"Not bad, but I think that you are definitely gonna need a new uniform, cos that one just ain't gonna cut it." Justin told her, the pair laughing as her new form threatened to split her existing uniform into pieces.
