"i got it, wooyoung" san said, shooing wooyoung out of his kitchen. wooyoung glanced at san with a pained expression on his face, "it seriously doesn't look like it" he replied and san let out a deep sigh.
it was the first time wooyoung came over to san's apartment and san was desperately trying to impress wooyoung by making dinner. he should've thought about it twice, knowing that he was a terrible cook and he was dating a michelin star chef.
"we can do it together" wooyoung offered and san pressed his lips into a thin line. he had been struggling with the meat for a while now, he was afraid of it being raw, but he couldn't tell if it was cooked or not.
"fine" san's shoulders slumped as he admitted defeat and wooyoung smiled in relief while he walked over to san. "did you even season this?" wooyoung asked as he stared at the meat in the pan.
san's eyes shot wide open in realization and wooyoung chuckled at his reaction, "you're not good at this, are you?" he teased.
"shut up" san pouted and opened the cupboard to grab the spices, "just help me".
"you did this?" wooyoung asked, surprised, while san led him to the apartment balcony that san had decorated in advance. well, seonghwa decorated. san wasn't the best at decorating either, so he asked seonghwa, who had more insight on this kind of stuff, to help.
"sort of" san trailed off, he really wanted their first official date to go well and he was more nervous than he thought he'd be.
san glanced at wooyoung, hoping he would appreciate the effort. lanterns softly illuminated the space, casting a warm glow over the small table set with candles and a bouquet of flowers.
"it's beautiful," wooyoung said, his eyes sparkling as he took in the scene. san couldn't help but smile, relieved by wooyoung's positive reaction.
"i'm glad you like it" san said, pulling out wooyoung's chair for him. he made a mental note to thank seonghwa for setting the balcony up later.
wooyoung smiled and sat down. san sat down on the other seat across from him and watched as wooyoung took a bite from the food.
wooyoung had an unreadable expression on his face, he put the utensils down and looked at san, "try it" he urged. san frowned but cut a piece of the meat and placed it in his mouth. quite honestly, wooyoung's reaction was freaking san out. wooyoung helped him out but what if san messed up so badly, not even wooyoung could fix it?
as soon as the meat hit his tongue, he looked at wooyoung surprised. it was...actually good? wooyoung's lips stretched into a smile, "you can stop freaking out now". san nodded and matched wooyoung's smile.
"sorry, i just wanted tonight to be perfect" san confessed. wooyoung looked at san and placed his hand on top of san's, "you don't have to work yourself up for no reason, san. just being with you is perfect" wooyoung softly said and san felt a jolt in his chest.
he didn't know what he did right to have wooyoung.
after dinner, san wanted to take wooyoung on a night stroll and they ended up at the park across from wooyoung's restaurant. they sat on the bench, wooyoung leaning his head on san's shoulder.
"i just remembered" wooyoung lifted his head up and snorted, "being here reminds me of when you showed up here drunk". san visibly cringed, "can we not talk about that?". he had forgotten all about that night, now being reminded about it, he wished he could burn the memory.
"i never thought that drunk guy would be sitting here with me now" wooyoung remarked, smirking when he noticed how embarrassed san became.
"you're talking as if you're not the one who dropped that tray of food at my very important work event" san retorted. wooyoung gasped and glared at san, "that wasn't funny" wooyoung grumbled and wooyoung chuckled at his reaction.
"you're right" san agreed, "it wasn't funny. it was actually really funny". wooyoung squinted his eyes and pushed san, "whatever" wooyoung mumbled and turned away from san with his arms crossed.
"i'm kidding" san laughed, wrapping an arm around wooyoung, "it was cute" he said and kissed wooyoung's head, "you've always been cute".
wooyoung rolled his eyes but couldn't hide the smile on his face, "whatever". san gazed at wooyoung, snuggling closer to him, "we've come a long way, haven't we?".
wooyoung hummed, nuzzling into san's embrace, "we really have".
they stayed like that, glued to each other, taking in the night breeze and san had a feeling wooyoung would be the last person he'd hold like this.
"i love you" wooyoung blurted out.
san smiled and cupped wooyoung's cheek, capturing him into a passionate kiss.
"i love you too. now and forever".
