they're not the kind of guys you marry
not even the kind of guys you have crushes onthey're the guys who will teach you to smoke
the guys who will make you drink
otherwise it's a sign of disrespect
they're the kind of guys who will date the same girls in circles and stay friends
the kind of guys who will not
under no circumstances
ask you to hang out
even if they want tobut they're also the kind of guys who will make you laugh so hard that on your way home
you'll notice your abs and cheeks hurting
they're the kind of guys who will make you forget the city
they'll make you forget your polished politically correct roots
they're the kind of guys who will force you to live in the moment and make them last foreverthey have given me summers that were better than entire years of my life
they've given me memories of the kind of youth old people are terrified of
they've shown me a life that is as small as the shit-town we rule over
but as big
as bright
as necessary as the fucking Sunthey're not the guys you marry
they're the guys you grow up with
they're our guys
our brothers from other motherswe love them because it is our way
we love them because they have made us human
