chapter fifty eight - kiss me

Harry Edwards

I was never able to rein in fire that was lit by the wrong fuel. This wrong fuel meant a more difficult road ahead. Sometimes when smoke engulfs the sky above, it contains chemicals that are much more harmful. It can cloud your lungs and your mind, causing many long-term effects.

As soon as I saw the fuel touch the flame, I knew it meant no good. He put his hands on her and she clearly didn't like it.

"How are you enjoying your drink, Harry?" Folan asked as I watched from afar.

His name was Ben. Short for Benjamin. He worked in the tech department that was very tucked away from the rest of the building. He had caused many issues before, but none of them caught my attention like this one.

I completely ignored Folan's question and left my glass of beer at the bar, pacing towards where they were.

Ben approached her and I knew she could handle a prick like that herself. But as soon as he touched her, I lost it. It didn't matter where he did or why he did, I just didn't want his hands on her.

"Hey! I wasn't done with-." Were the last words he said before he hit the ground beneath him. As I lifted him up using his collar, he held a smug look on his face. Like he was proud of what he did.

So, I whispered into his ear. "If you even go within one fucking metre of her again, I'll break that fucking neck of yours."

His face dropped after shoved him against the hardwood floor. I stepped up to see many pairs of eyes on me, but there was only one pair I really cared about.

I saw her standing about 10 metres ahead, grasping at my ring that was on a chain around her neck. Where it belonged, next to her heart. I began to walk towards her, the room still being quiet and dreary.

"Are you hurt? Did he hurt you?" I said as I reached where she was.

She shook her head and said nothing. My stomach ached thinking this may have been my fault. I wasn't able to say any more words because I was cut off but someone else.

"Can't make your claim on a girl when she wears something like that, Harry." Ben said and I balled my fists.

I think I felt the flame literally erupt in my chest. The one I described before. It wasn't long before I got grabbed at the back of my collar and yanked. The weak force didn't make me move a step, but it did make me madder when Ben threw his fist to my right jaw.

In all humbleness, it did nothing.

I straightened up and threw my own punch and he immediately fell to the floor. The sound of it travelled all around the hall and gasps were heard too. I glared down at Ben but now he wouldn't look up. He held his jaw in pain while curled in a ball.

I glanced up to Lucy, now with Liam and Zayn alongside her. Her face looked fearful as our eyes reached each other. I began to walk back, wobbling and dazed. I wasn't sure why, but it sure as hell made my vision unclear.

"You're just gonna end up like your brother."

It wouldn't make my thinking unclear though. I turned around and began to pace to Ben on the floor where I left him but I was stopped by a strong force. Liam and Zayn held me back.

"Don't do it, mate." Liam says while I get shoved back. I got forced onto a seat while trying to regain my conscience, which had disappeared.

"Has he been drinking? He's stumbling all over the place." Liam whispered to Zayn, thinking I could hear. But I did.
